Whats a true preban worth?

Does a real preban (by date of manufacture) have any additional value nowadays over a new rifle in preban configuration?

Maybe in New York?

As far as the 94 AWB is concerned, it means nothing. During the ban, the price of some guns doubled because they were pre-ban. As far as the import ban is concerned, pre-ban weapons (such as the HK91, HK94, Steyr AUG, and others) have tripled in price and will continue to appreciate in value because no new product will be available unless the laws change, not unlike the 1986 ban on newly manufactured machine guns. So, I guess it depends on which ban you are talking about.

A pre ban AR? No. Exact same value as an other AR in same condition/configuration.

Go buy a new one, they build them better now anyway.

Depends on state laws. If your state has a AWB that never sunset but mirrored the National AWB then you'd have to buy a pre-ban rifle to be compliant. You'd have to buy a pre-'94 lower even though the National AWB is dead because the state AWB would still be active.

I don't know which states, if there are any, that have an AWB that mirrors the National AWB. Cali has some AW law but IIRC the poor Californians can't even sell their registered AW so pre-ban only means something for the guy who got his paperwork done in time.

In a no AWB state the pre-ban means nothing and doesn't command a higher value in my eyes.
