XP Home to XP Pro Upgrade

I have to upgrade my XP Home to XP Pro to access some work software which now works only on Win 2K and XP Pro exclusively. :upeyes:

Most places sell it for $199.

I do not want to pay that much. There are new copies on ebay for around $100-130 but most say the are academic copies (http://cgi.ebay.com/Windows-XP-Pro-Upgrade-w-SP2-NEW_W0QQitemZ330147388282QQihZ014QQcategoryZ41888QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but claim they will work the same on any pc. I don't really want to play games with academic versions but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg either.

Is $120 for a regular XP SP2 the best I am going to find? :) Any suggestions?

Not very bright discussing trying to circumvent legal licensing online.

Anything off eBay is subject to being pirated and full of nasty stuff like spyware, malware, viri, backdoors, DOS portals, etc..

Academic copies used by non-academic qualified people can get you into trouble if discovered, your choice.

Maybe your office IT department will give you an upgrade disk for XP Pro Office?
