View Full Version : MK9 with FActory Teflon Slide
I just saw a used LNIB Kahr MK9 with a blue teflon coated slide. The serial number starts with LTD. I cant find it in the list of Kahr serail numbers. I did find a post saying a run of 400 had been made but the post was from 2000. Does anyone know anything about this pistol? I think I will be trading a Sig 232 for it tomorrow. I NEVER carry the 232 and have a Sig 230 that shoots great.
The following is from Kahr's original website page for this pistol:
M9093-2T MK9 Duo-Tone, stainless frame, Black-T®
"Kahr Arms has started shipping the Limited Edition Kahr MK9 with a Duo Tone finish. This MK9 features a matte stainless steel frame and on ordnance steel (4130 chrome moly) slide plated with the exceptional Black-T® finish by Walter Birdsong. This limited Edition run will consist of 400 units with the serial numbers LTD 001 through LTD 400. Black-T® is a proprietary black coating developed to add lubricity as well as greatly increasion corrosion properties of the base metal. It exceeds the ATSM (American Standard Materials) 177 specifications for salt water corrosion resistance by more than 4000%. It is the only permissable coating used on many components on nuclear submarines and is the coating of choice by the elite FBI hostage rescue team."
I JUST FOUND THIS ONLINE.

I have one of the MK9 Limited Editions (number LTD03X) -- got it in early 1999, for a cent less than $500. They were made before the Elite trigger, so I sent mine back in 2004 to have it and tritium night sights installed. I have carried this gun a lot in the last few years, and absolutely love it. The Birdsong Black-T wears very well, especially considering all I carry it. When I sent it back to Kahr for the trigger work, they even touched up the Black-T for no charge, and I didn't even ask for it!
I highly recommend this version of the MK9. It has served me well and expect to last for many years to come. :hearts: (Plus it is very accurate. I can shoot it more accurately than a .22 semi auto and a .22 revolver that I own!)
