Of course the question needs to be refined. Groups at what distance, what ammo, shooting supported or freestyle, etc?

I think you will find the accuracy more than acceptable for defensive purposes. Check threads for targets...some are very proud of the accuracy of their 36's.

i guess at 10 and 25 yards
i know its not a match gun but want to know what to shoot for and when i get however small its me using the gun to the fullest

i know with my stock savage 17 hmr that i can on a good day shoot just over .5 inch at 100yard and at 50 one hole it. i think i got jsut about all i can out that little gun.

i ll take a look for some posts with pictures too thanks

At 10 yards you should be able to get an inch or two group. 25 maybe 2-4 at best. Anything better is probably gravy.

I'm sure there are those that will say they can shoot 1" groups at 25 yards. I can't offhand with stock sights. Only gun magazine writers and INTERNET keyboard marksmen can do that.

The trigger and sights are not conducive to real tight groups. Maybe with a scope and a real good trigger job, but I doubt a stock Glock could shoot that kind of group from a Ransom Rest.

I'm guessing your 17 HMR is a rifle with a scope?

With the groups you are shooting you certainly have the marksmanship skills to shoot good groups with the Glock. It's all about trigger control and accepting the sight picture to make an acceptable shot.

The Glock trigger is similar to others in that you can prep the trigger and then squeeze through the break. The part with the Glock is the pull from pre-stage to break is fairly long and somewhat mushy, so you need to hold steady for longer. You might do better after you get used to the trigger, to have a faster squeeze after the pre-stage part to minimize the wait. One thing, a Glock trigger gets better the more it's used.

The only option I would consider is night sights.

After that you might consider Pearce +0 base pads for the mags. I like the feel better than stock and maybe a Pearce +1 for a backup mag if you use the 36 for carry. If you get the Plus 1 I would get a Wolff +10% mag spring. Might not even be a bad idea to get them for all your mags. Also, if you like maybe Decal Grip.

If you check the thread about mods to 36 you will see my 36 is stock except for what's noted here. I would stay away from extended mag releases, recoil reduction guide rods, etc. these mods have caused grief for many.

man thanks thats a big help
and so far as for shooting the Corps taught me how and the sad part is it was mostly m16 and 81mm mortar then m60/then m240G i had all of one day and that was cut short to a few hours of time behind the 92

i do get to play with pistols now and then and test shot the 17 19 21 22 glocks wanted small and 45acp  i liked the grip i could get on the 36 better then any other glock i shot

The 36 does have a nice feeling grip, if you can get past the longer front to back measurement. I have shot 1911's so much it feels pretty good to me. Many on here have said their 36's are the most accurate Glocks they have. I haven't really shot mine for groups, as it's a carry piece, but it's pretty easy to get head shots at 10 yards. Much beyond that you better be running away, legally speaking.

Funny you should mention the service. I remember qualify with a 1911 and all I got was one magazine and told to shoot into the side of a hill about 10 yards away (no target). A least you got a day. Guess that's one of the differences between Marines and Army, you get better training.
