yes and no.

Some of the guys up in the Big Dawgs forum found that the G36 and G30 slide/barrels are interchangeable. Meaning you can take a G36 slide, barrel, and recoil spring assembly and it will fit and function on a G30 and vice versa.

I sent an e-mail to Advantage Arms about it and they tried one of their G30 .22 LR conversion kits on a G36 frame. They said it does indeed fit.

But, there are no magazines for it and they said the cost of molds wouldn't justify the low sales for the G36 conversion.

I was thinking about buying an AA G30 magazine and seeing if I could modify it to fit my G36. But I just haven't taken the time to do that yet. I got an AA kit for my G19 and shoot that instead.

Here's my e-mail exchange with AA:

xxxxxxx,

Our L.E. 29-30 slide does appear to fit the G36 frame, although I did have some difficulty getting it off. A bigger problem is that we don't make a magazine that will fit the G36 frame. The G36 would require a new magazine mold, unfortunately, there just isn't enough demand for the kit to justify the expense. Sorry.

Regards,

Advantage Arms

Subject: G36 Kit

Hi,

I wrote to you a year or 2 ago when I got my Glock model 36 to see if you were going to make a conversion kit for it. As I recall you had no plans to do so.

Recently on the Glock Talk forum there have been several reports of guys who own both the G36 and G30 swapping slides on the guns and they are still functioning fine. I'm not going to comment on the wisdom of shooting a Glock 30 with the smaller and lighter Glock 36 slide on it, but it got me thinking.

If the G36 and G30 slide can be interchanged on the frames and still function, why wouldn't the Advantage Arms .22 LR conversion kit for the G30 function on a G36? The only problem would be the magazine. You wold have to design a narrower magazine for the single column G36.

Rather than engineer a complete new slide for the G36, and have to recoup the cost on a low volume Glock pistol, like the model 36, you would only have to recoup the cost of the magazine design and build.

The wider G30 slides would not fit into the G36 holsters, but this could be remedied in most cases by purchasing an identical holster for the G30.

Thanks for you time,

xxxxxx

well thats mostly good news in my book if i can find a way to fix the MAG problem. after not seeing a kit i thought i was going to ahve to fab up the whole works. if i was goigtot ohave to do that i wold be looking to do the little 17HM2 tho that would make ground hog plinking better

i will be looking into the conversion and if it seesm doable with the tools i have at the shop i ll let you all know
