Hey guys. Great to see a G36 group! Shot Glocks for 2 years now and love them. I have a 9mm for target but want to get a .45 for carry and car. I looked at G30- too much grip. Looked at the XD .45 compact and Kahr. Then I ran upon the G36. What is a fair price new/used. I am in Florida. I like the thin grip and just a little smaller than the G19? Reliability....Its a Glock, I know! Any breaking in period? Is it the usual push of a .45? Love some feedback before I make the investment. Thanks, Slainer

I rhink you will be happy with a 36. Had mine since 2000 with no issues. No idea on price on your area.

I have found the recoil on the G36 to be a bit snappy but manageable. I find it easier to control than shooting my G32 as a 357Sig. Shooting my G32 as a 40S&W is least easiest to control. Most people I have read compare the 45ACP recoil as a push versus the 40S&W as a snap. I bought my G36 NIB back in 2001 and chose it over the G30. It has been 100% stock and problem-free since. So, no break-in period for me. Price-wise you can probably get one cheaper online than local but you don't get to look it over before buying. I would suggest a gunshow as the best venue to get good pricing. Good luck on your choice.

Out of all of the Glocks that I own or have owned I would rate the 36 as one of my favorites. Its thin and easy to pack. Double Tap 230 grain loads will run at 950 or more out of the 3.78 inch barrel. That is a lot of power in such a small gun. With one in the chamber you still have 7 shots. When I want to go light it is the first handgun I grab. Even lighter than my 357 Ruger SP 101.

I had a OD g-36 but could not warm up to the color,no problems with it but just my personal taste.Went back to my G-30/19 for ccw,but missed my slimline 36.

I picked one up at the Big Town gunshow yesterday, serial # LFR test fired on June 14 2007,ran 300 rounds of CCI 230 grain without a hitch.
On pricing they were anywhere from $529.00 for a OD model/$549.00 black with mep night sights/and mine for $490.00 black with fixed sights.I'm a happy G-36 camper again:)

I picked up a G26 for my self and a G27 for my son a couple weeks ago, very satisfied with both Glocks. Planning on getting a G36 next week, as soon as I can sell my SP101 9mm revolver.

I have a G30 and a G36, and if the G30 grip feels too fat for you, the G36 may just be the way to go. That said, I don't exactly have giant paws, but I like the G30 feel better, and I fire it more accurately. If you haven't already, I urge you to handle, and if possible, fire both before you buy.

As others have said, the recoil is a bit more snappy than for a G30 (or G21SF), but still way below the snappiness of say, a G23.

FYI, Pearce makes a +1 mag extension for the G36 as shown:

Where ruffly are you, in Florida?

I just found out about a mostly online gun store in St.petersburg.
They don't have store hours listed on the site, but they do say they can set up an apointment.

http://www.onpointsupply.com/

They have the Glock 36 with fixed sights listed for $516, and since you live in Florida naturaly you also have to pay the 7% sales tax.
Thats $552.12 + FFL fee.

Darkshadow.

Have both G36 and Springer XD's (all .45's). Love my 4" Compact XD, which I carry regularly. VERY comfortable to conceal and shoot. Only slightly larger than G36, but also 10-13 rds vs. 6. Still putting rounds thru the 36 to get comfortable with it as carry gun, but like it overall. It is a little tempermental, as compared to my other Glocks (which have all worked flawlessly right out of the box), but attribute the G36 quircks to difference between tiny baby Glock vs. other full size service models (my G21 and G37). Have seen many other posts from people with similar issues with G36, and many from those that have never had an issue. Paid $500 here in Az for her.

Couple other thoughts. The $500 price was with standard Glock sights. I paid separately to have Mepro NS put on her. Also, note that holsters are a little more scarce for the 36 (at least for IWB), which is Glock's only "slimline" model.

My 36 snaps a bit more than my 21 and quite a bit more than my 26, but it isn't a problem. My wife is a newer shooter and she has no problem with it. She tends to limp wrist an autoloader so bad she couldn't shoot my old Bersa .380, but she has no problems with the 36. She prefers it to my 26 because she likes the longer grip on the 36 more than she likes the softer recoil of the 26.
