View Full Version : Holsters
I have heard in the past that the G36 will fit alomost any holster that at 19/17 size gun will. I am thinking about ordering a CTAC slide for my G36. Anyone have any 100% information that the 36 will work with the 19/17 sized holsters?
The G36 and the G19/23 are very similar in size, but they're not an exact match. So while I know for a fact the G36 fits some G19/23 holsters, I wouldn't imagine it's interchangeable with ALL of them.

I know that my G-36 will fit in a couple of G-19 Comp -tac holsters I have but don't really click in tight even with the retention screws locked down tight.
I carry my G-36 in a Don Hume IWB G-26 holster H715 M NO.36-1"
Works great for me and at a reasonable price.

I read about it here first, saw the photo, and ordered from Packin' Heat an IWB holster, namely a Bianchi Model 100 Professional size 11 (which is not the size mistakenly recommended by Bianchi). I'm very pleased. See the thread in this forum "G 36 holster" for the photo that convinced me.
My G36 fits in several of my holsters made for a G23: A Ken Null horsehide IWB holster, An Alessi GLK OWB, a De Santis Thumb Break mini-slide model 085, and a Passport soft nylon holster.
My G36 does fit pretty nicely in my G23 holsters and vica versa with one exception. I have a Miami Classic shoulder rig that I ordered for a G23 and the G36 is not a good fit.
The 36 doesn't fit right. It will physically fit in the holster but the 36 trigger guard seems a little longer or shaped differently. When you put a 36 in a 17's holster it fits and you can snap it, but it cants/tilts forward, the trigger guard bottoms out long before the slide is all the way in. At least that is my experience with my 36 as far as trying to fit it into the Gould & Goodrich OWB holster I hav for my 17.
Hope this helps.
my G36 fit my serpa for the G19. The G19 wouldn't fit in a G36 kydex holster I have.

I too use the Don Hume iwb 715. I love this holster. I am going to order an M-tac soon for my 36.
My G36 seems to fit better in the Galco JackAss Rig ( a decent shoulder holster that I never really use ) than the G19 for which it was made. I guess I needed to break in the leather for the G19, but got tired of putting holster wear on it and noticed the g36 fit easier.
I owned a C-TAC slide and all of my Glocks worked in it. I own a 17, 23, 26, 27, and 36.

Some holsters for the 19/23 will fit the 36, but some will not.
I have several of both versions. The big difference in holster fit, as far as I can figure with my set-ups, is the width of the trigger guard. The G36 trigger guard is about 0.03" wider than a 19/23.
I have no idea why Glock would do this. I have to note that my 19 and 23 are 2nd gen guns, so there may have been a change to 3rd gen in this area that I don't know about.

Have not bothered to test/try the 36 in many/all the other holsters have in the "Box" but suspect the lack of rails on its dust cover has a lot to do with it "Coming close" to fitting various holsters for the 30, 19/23, etc.
One Maker even told that he specifically built his Kydex to fit all of the similar pistols mentioned, down to the front of the T-Guard/"girth", etc., then built the remainder to the muzzle to accommodate the largest of the bunch.
My G19 and G36 fit each others holsters just fine.

Well, the 36 does "fit" into a KyTac Point.5 have for 17/22/34,etc. but can tell it does not fit nearly as well to call it "compatible".
{KyTac is molded to an actual pistol, FWIW}

My G36 fits the same Galco pocket holster that fits my G26!!!
Try Comp-Tac's new line of holsters, the MTAC. VERY nice with interchangeable kydex shells so you can get 'one' holster and several shells for different frame guns. Dave carries a G21SF or the G36 in one all day IWB with NO discomfort.
