If anyone has shot this weapon, please share your thoughts.
Thanks.

I've got one. I like it. It has a higher bore axis than the Glock and a different trigger system. Other than that, accurate and reliable like a Glock.
Like the older ones a lot.
The new one I looked at had a different trigger set-up.
Bad DA IMHO.
I passed on the new one and will look some more...maybe and old one?
Love mine. I've owned 4 different sigs in .357sig and this one is by far the best package, although my 226 came close.
G33,
Not sure if this is at all related to what you're saying about the trigger on the new sig, so excuse me if it's not.
I just picked up a P228 which is my first sig. It is different than my glocks in many ways, but I still like it a lot. It has been 100% reliable so far, although I only have about 250 rounds through it to date.
Back to the topic, I have noticed that the DA trigger pull has become much, much smoother and lighter with just the little bit of use I have given the gun. I wasn't happy with the trigger pull at first. I thought it was way to heavy and rough. Now it is smooth and not too heavy. I may even be starting to like it. ;) I think they need to break in a little.

C-hawk is right. Don't judge a trigger pull fresh out of the box. Sigs are like a fine wine. The older it is, the better it gets.
This is by far the gun I shoot best. I absolutely love the caliber and the gun. IMHO, can't find a better platform to launch the 357 Sig.
C-Hawk and Co.,
Really like my old 228, which has spoiled me; you guys are probably right.
Thanks.
I carry one on duty day in and day out. It shoots like a dream. I trust my life with it....that should tell you enough.

Thanks guys and keep the comments coming.
I have owned one for about six months. I really like it. I can shoot it better than the P229 in .40 and my G17.
Mine has about 4,000 rounds through it, and the DA trigger is very, very smooth.
Little gun...big boom...
I really like it!
Although, Glocks feel a little better in my hand and I'm not entirely sold on .357 Sig.
Sigs are damn fine weapons, and the one I shot in .357 Sig shot very well, felt very good, and functioned flawlessly (as all sigs seem to do).
I'm not too sure what you want to know. If you are hot for something in .357 Sig and a Sig shoots better for your than a Glock, buy one and don't turn back. Don't forget that you'll have to remortgage your house to shoot with any regularity. ;) That .357 Sig is some expensive ammunition.

I've got two (2)! Like the SIGs (239, 229, 2340, 226) the best of all the 357s I've tried (USP compact and G31,32,33, 35 w KKM 357 bbl). Seem to handle the best for me. Shoot the 357SIG in SIGs better than the 9mm +P in Glocks too... YMMV. ;)
The P229 seems to have a softer felt recoil than my Glock 31. I suppose you give up a little bit of comfort for a lighter pistol. The P229 does weigh about 1/2 lb more than the Glock. The P229 is still very easy to carry in just about any kind of holster rig.
I like the slightly higher bore axis of the SIG's too. The muzzle still drops to point of aim instantly, and it seems to help deflect some of that mean push back that the lower bore axis pistols create.
It's really easy to load the P229 magazines to full capacity, even when brand new. This is cool.
The 229 is really easy to disassemble and clean too.
I'd have to class the P229 as one of the Ultimate Pistols in the marketplace.
I currently own two (2). One old sytle and one new. There are both excellent pistols. I would try trust my life with either.
Don't want to start a fight but I believe the 357 Sig THE up and coming round. Chambers everytime, shoots straight, and is extremely accurate.
I would highly recommend one to you. Good Luck!
I've got a 229 and a G31. The 229 definitely seems to have less felt recoil than the G31, but during rapid fire drills I shoot the G31 better. Go figure. It might be that I can control the Glock better because of the grip angle and low bore axis. Anyway, they are both totally reliable (in my own experience) and extremely accurate (1.5-2" @ 25yds). Maybe you should get one.

I've owned a couple of 229's over the years and just recently sold a 229 in 357sig to my friend complete with the extra 40 barrel...After using both barrels I thought the 357sig was definitely more accurate then the 40...No problems with either barrel...The 229 has so much less recoil then a G32 its not even funny...Overall...The 229 is one sweet gun...Accurate...Reliable & durable...Highly reccomended...
The Delaware State Police were the 1st major dept to adopt the 357sig round...They use P229's & from what I've heard they love them...:)
I had a 229 in 40S&W, other than the single dot over line sights it was a d@mm nice weapon. I fired a few 229s in 357sig and they where all great with less felt recoil than a G31/32.
Out of of all of the DA/SA pistols that I have own the sig229 is the only one I wish I never sold.
( I actually used the funds from this pistol to buy my first glock in 40S&W so I guess it was all good in the end )
I want to confirm that the Sig pistols present less recoil than the Glock in identical calibers and similar barrel legnths, in my experience at the range, shooting them side by side.
I also agree that the caliber should grow in popularity if the quality of the caliber is any indicator.

I've heard the DSP has blown a couple of guns too... not that it bothers me any. SIG still has a looooong way to go to catch up w Glock and Beretta in the broken/blown/kBd gun dept!? ;)
Bobbing and weaving, zigging and zagging...;a
The availability of Sig Premium ammo is what is the problem. I love to shoot my 2340 in Sig but getting ammo, let alone inexpensive ammo is the problem.
Hello , I recently purchased a Sig 229 in the .357 and .40 cal. The .357 shoots much tighter than the .40, and after that first shot the Sig shoots very good. It's going to take some time until I'm used to the double action first shot, the Glock and 1911 style is much easier to learn to shoot well. I am very impressed with the .357 cal., flat shooting and demonstrates incredible accuracy. I'd suggest that you try that Sig before you decide to purchase. They are expensive, and take some adjustment in shooting style. I still keep my Glock 21 at bedside for trouble. Just had to see what all the hype was about on that Sig., expensive lesson. Hope this helps and best regards Greysky.

As for ammo - if local stores won't carry it, order it, or charge too much, then mail order / Internet is a good way to buy it. Shipping isn't all that much, comparatively, if one orders in quantity.
There are a number of good dealers, which have been often posted, to get practice and/or carry ammo.
IMO, Georgia Arms is generally a good source for both.
(Although I haven't tried their .357Sig practice ammo.)
I have both a Sig 229 in .357Sig, and a G32. I've never fired them side by side, so can't compare recoil characteristics. Both are as accurate as I am, and 100% reliable so far. The G32 is smaller, lower, lighter, nearly rustproof, and has a consistent trigger pull. I would be happy with either.
I've had 4 Sigs in .357.
They are more accurate, reliable, easier to reload, mags load better, and they cost more, weigh more, and hold their value better.
Glocks on the other hand are lighter, come in 10mm, mags are cheaper, guns are cheaper, as accurate as a handgun needs to be, easier to teach on, no decocker, cycle faster.
My only .357 sig is the Sig 229. Flawless thru 1000 rounds shooting many different loads - accurate with any load. This pistol can be scary accurate when you do your part. I'm always amazed when I take that 3.8" barrel out to clean it and think, " this is all the barrel I need to be that accurate".
I've owned three SIGs including the P229 and have nothing but good things to say. They shot every factory load and reload I threw at them and cannot remember ever experiencing a jam. Can't say the same thing about my Glock 33. Shoots all the factory loads fine. Seem to be a little tempermental with the reloads. I sold my P229 and bought the G33 because I wanted a pistol a little smaller for CC and one that fit my small hands better.

I love the 229 in .357 Sig... I have shot the Glock 36, and a SigPro 2340 in .357.. the 229 in by far more accurate, least recoil of any of them... but I personally don't find recoil to be that bad, just a little bit sharper than a 40...
Ciao!
