View Full Version : New to me G36 and a ?
Just got my G36 from a fellow GT'er. Goes nicely with my G19, holster swap and all. I had a G30 for awhile but it felt too thick. Just holding it today felt pretty good.
Anyone use Pearce +1s on the mags? TJ

On a 19, 30 or 36?
I do/did (will again when I get the gun back from glock). When my 36 detonated, if I would have not been using a grip extension, I at the least, would have had a very broken finger. It helped my grip and improved the feel of the gun tremendously.

When I carry my 36 I often carry a backup mag as well. The backup has a Pearce +1 on it, while the one in the gun has a Pearce +0.
The +1 gives a feeling to the grip that is more like a full size grip and because of it's added length, I feel it is easier to slam it home on a mag change.
Because of the way the gun is designed when you reload you need to make sure you get your little finger out of the way otherwise you could pinch it between the mag and the gun.
A little editorializing here, somewhat off topic. I feel Glock messed this up when designing the gun. Somewhere along the line it looks like they intended the gun to be either a 5 shot or possibly 6 with the rounds more staggered than they are. The set up would look like the other compacts with a thin flat bottom mag pad. They either discovered that they couldn't get a mag to work with the greater stagger or the recoil was too much with your pinky hanging in the air, so they went with the standard mag as currently offered. Makes me wonder why they don't offer a 5 shot mag, but maybe they figure no one will buy it. Of course, this is all speculation on my part. However, it does somewhat break the mold of the rest of the guns.
Anyway, the +1 has worked fine. I did get a Wolff extra power spring before I installed it. Some say they can get away with the stock spring and the +1, but to me, why take the risk for $5-$6. On the +0. It feels better to me than the stock pad. It also matches the checkering in the finger grooves. However the one I got had some flash on the back of it that irritated my hand, but a little sand paper took care of that.
This is all my opinion, I could be wrong.
ipscshooter, thanks for the remarks. Always good to have food for thought. Just got my G36 and I think the grip extensions will make for a great fit in my hand. TJ

My used G36 came with two mags with Pearce +1s; but I do not know if new springs were added. I bought some unaltered mags as well. On the first outing I had a few stovepipes, but none since then. So for now I am pleased with the extensions, but will keep the other mags stock as I intend to carry the pistol occasionally.
As my other post states. I put +1 extensions on my mags. Everything seems to function okay when I hand cycle. I didn't feel any glitches and the rounds fed smoothly. My G36 has approx 300 rounds through it according to the person I bought it from. The extensions make the grip fit me much better. Thanks for your input. TJ
