View Full Version : when using a crimson trace or any laser.....
do you ignore the front sight and focus on the dot? Might seem like a silly question but I have no experience with lasers, and question their application or advantages. i want to get one, so anyone with positive experience, enlighten me.

At the range I will align sights and pic up the laser through my sight picture, in real life like in timed IPSC like stages for fun I focus on the laser as I am looking through at the target. No time in that to line up sights, just like in a real defensive situation.

There is no need to sight down the barrel with a laser-equipped pistol.
Using a solid, two-handed grip, focus on trigger control and dry-fire practice often. Hand and trigger control are everyrhing with this type of shooting.
Looking at the attached pic, the LaserMax dot is plain to see in the glare of the X200B. The round from, in this case Judy's G19, will appear about 1/4" above the dot, out to practical pistol ranges.

Yes.
One of the advantages of a laser is the gun does not have to be held in front of your face, thereby blocking what Little you can see in the dark. With a little practice the gun can accurately be fired from most any position while keeping your attention on the target.
Second, you do not focus on the laser dot. It takes some practice but what you want to practice is keeping your attention on target. When you point the gun at the target the laser dot will be close to centered. As you are squeezing the trigger you will automatically adjust the laser to center, if need be.
Practice will increase your speed and accuracy fairly quickly.
I practice with lasers 2-5 evenings . I'm a little slow but here's a couple example targets using the Crimson Trace . You youngsters should be q bit quicker.
Fun shooting.:)
