Hi folks. I do a lot of graphics work as part of my duties here and elsewhere, but I am more an innovator than an inventor. I need to create silver, gold and platinum membership icons, founding member silver, gold and platinum membership icons and a Charter Lifetime Member icon. The charter lifetime member icon should be 75X75 pixels or smaller and the others can be up to 150 pixels wide, but should not be taller than maybe 30 pixels. The colors should stand out without clashing with the current colors and the icons should not be animated. I also want to revamp the contributor icons. These are all the same basic icon with increments from 1 to 10, to denote the number of donations someone has made. I really don't like the current one. It is too tall and it looks cheesy. I would like it to be the same size and shape as the membership icons, but with a different color scheme.

I am having no luck coming up with anything for these and I want them to be really nice. I would greatly appreciate it if some of the more graphics-minded folks out there could come up with something for me. I can't afford to pay someone to do it, but I will give a Charter Lifetime Membership to someone who submits a set of icons (Outlined above) that I can use. I would like something distinctive, without being gaudy. I want something that will look professional and classy. I really appreciate it.

Why not different colored Glocks? Silver, gold, etc.

Hmmmm Sounds like glocktalk.com in general needs a logo, a branding of some sort. I'm thinking something more than just a Glock or GT, not sure what though but if you think of the Glock, they have one in that the G surrounds the lock, maybe something similar with Glock Talk or GT.com or something, again, I don't know.:) If GT had a logo then it would be easy to just use that in various colors maybe.

Eric,

I'm working up some more ideas. You can get to them via the link I sent you.

Just how different would a silver and a platinum Glock look?

Rather, if the platinum one had those sun rays coming off it like a reflection in a couple places.

I'll be happy with whatever it is y'all come up with, but I for one don't own a Glock (sold my G36 for an XD quite some time ago). Not sure I'd be too crazy about a Glock icon... maybe a "GT" icon... or maybe different caliber rounds to represent each level... a .45 for platinum, .40 for silver, etc...

Just food for thought...

Needs something in the background I think. Something that would pull it together and give it a bit of texture. Right now the letters by themselves are a bit too stark...

Here is the logo with the member number listed as a roman numeral. If I use this format, the member number format in the description will be in standard format. Eric

if the logo had a 'glossy' look...it would have a 'sparkle'...
or Hey what about a diamond inlay!
*bling bling*

AND/OR the 'C' being a different color or shade than the L M ?
(emphasisizing CHARTER) ???
...regardless I'm just glad someone around here is artistic!

Here's the sort of thing I was suggesting Eric (although badly implemented since I don't have a design program at the moment... Bars would go on top of the lettering of course...

I too like the icon... what about some gold inlay in the "C" of CLM? Something to give it a little more propriety. I think that's just the touch it needs to be perfect.

I like it too but the L seems to get lost in there a bit.

It is hard to judge the look of particular graphics without the context of what the rest of the site will look like. Only you know that so far. Whatever it is, you want it to fit well with its surroundings.

I like it! Like yours to HG. How about a Glock with your design on the slide, Eric?

Thanks

Uh, it's still GLOCK TALK isn't it? Not FIREARMS TALK or HANDGUN TALK.

As far as I can observe from here this is still a Glock forum regardless of whether some members have sold their Glocks and decide to continue using the boards to discuss other brands.

Lighten up, man. A person doesn't have to own a Glock to hang out here and the topics allowed here venture way beyond just Glock pistols, or any weapons for that matter. Hell, I carry a Kimber and don't even own a Glock. Variety is the spice of life. Eric

I'm with you Eric,
I never owned a Glock, but come here for many other reasons.
I do own some of that "spice" CZ, S&W, Makarov, Colt, AK47. :) :)

I didn't mean that there was anything wrong with owners of other guns coming here to discuss other guns, but that's no reason to remove the Glock part from the logo.

As far as the CLM logo, I don't like the green. I agree the "L" gets lost. It would help if the horizontal part was not so thin. Instead of the "L" ovelapping the "C" at the top, maybe the "LM" could get pushed down a little. The "M" would overlap the "C" a little bit, but it's such a large letter, I don't think it would get too de-emphasized.
Herr Glock's treatment look fantastic! We should go ahead and get rid of that line inside the "C" as it doesn't look as good with the fading color scheme. Could the shadow of the logo be in the reflection also? If it's suitably translucent, it shouldn't be too distracting.

As for the regular memberships, here's another idea:
the Bronze logo could be a sub-compact GLOCK,
the Silver logo could be a compact,
and the Platinum could be a full-size.
Heck, a non -charter lifetime logo can be a longslide model.
Then you'd need a "Bronze Member", or whatever, legend in the appropriate color.
