Firing WWB 230gr FMJ ammo out of a clean gun, 5th round of the day and KA-BOOM. Gun is on the ground 10 feet away, my hand hurts like hell and my underwear decided to try and go into hiding if you know what I mean. Called Glock, was told to ship gun and what was left of the ammo to them and they would take care of it. Been almost a month and am still waiting to hear from them. I really liked the gun as a carry gun but was still in the reliability testing phase to make it a full time carry gun. All I ever shot out of the gun was WWB and Federal hydra shocks. Any one have experiance with Glocks customer service? What can I expect for a turn around time? Any help would be apprecieated

Thanks

And Here's a couple pics:

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt badly. Kabooms can happen to any gun if the ammo is over charged. I think it should have been more a liability for Winchester than GLOCK. Personally, I would have contacted Winchester as well and given them the batch number on the box of ammo you used. Who knows, it could even get you some free ammo. ;)

edited to add: I wonder if it shot the round out of battery? :headscratch:

I have been wondering the same thing, which is why I am letting Glock handle it. They did send the gun and the ammo left in the box to winchester and I have got a letter from winchester saying they are looking into it, doing some testing and what not. BUT that doesn't get me my gun back any faster, and I sure do wish they would hurry............

Sorry about your loss. I'm really starting to doubt WWB now. Of course, I just shot 100 rounds of it through my 36 in the past 2 weeks. Along with 100 CCI Blazers and 50 Remington UMC, and 20 Federal Hydra-Shock. In my 26 I've fired more WWB than I can count and haven't had any trouble with it.

I've got a 100 round box of WWB 380 I am almost afraid to shoot it out of my Kel-Tec
the way the price of ammo is going maybe I will save it until I can trade it for a new gun

Here's a little update. I called Glock monday, July 30 and was told they sent the gun to winchester and had it back already, but the guy could not find what the disposition on the gun was. He took my number and said he would call me when he found the disposition. Called them back today (thursdday August 2) because I hadn't heard from them. Today I wsa told that the gun was still at winchester and they usually take 4 weeks before they get the gun back, and they have only had the gun for 2 weeks (winchester that is). So I currently looking at 2 more weeks before glock even knows what they are going to do, not to mention how long it is going to take to do what ever they are going to do. My initial call to glock before I sent it in, they said 5 - 6 weeks before I got my gun back, I have a feeling it is going to be much longer than that. Needless to say I am not that happy with glock customer service at all.

Yikes!!!!

What's going on at Winchester? This becoming all to common.

Glad your OK.

If the case was still in the chamber when the gun went in, Winchester should have no issues with cutting a check to Glock or you for a replacement. Too bad about the BS time lag.

Actually the case is not in the chamber, it got ejected when I was making sure the gun was safe to ship, I did include the casing in the box with the pistol tho...........

Another update:

Just talked to Glock (again), and found out that somewhere between glock and winchester they lost the burst casing that was sent in with the gun, so Glock and winchester decided to split the cost of rebuilding my gun. Big time COOL. Unfortunatly it is still going to take another 2 - 4 weeks to ship it back out to me. That will make it around 3 months since I sent it in. Cant say I am happy with the turn around time on this, but since they are making it right I am a happy customer once again. I just can't wiat ti it gets here:sad:

Root cause failure anaylsis takes time.

They have to take what's left of your gun and try to determine what events lead up to the failure than try to determine what actually caused it!!

Glock is going to generare a report which will be sent, along with the carcass to winchester, who will do the same thing!!!

Then the bottom feeders get involved with both sets claiming that the other is responsible!!

After a period of time, they decide what to do!!

I'd say that the time it took was very reasonable!!!

Not knowing much, but by "rebuild" I'm guessing you're getting a new frame, plus replacement parts in the slide that could have been or were compromised. I'm thinking a brand new Glock is a more appropriate solution, given that they admit to losing the casing and were unable to determine if it was the cause. Or am I off base here?

I think Glock should send you a brand spanking new G36 along with a few extra mags to meet total customer satisfaction. They can rebuild your old pistola and merchandise it through one of their distributors. You have waited long enough for the factory to determine the faults of the defective G36 and should expedite the delivery of a new one now.................

Hmmm, how convenient for Winchester.

The 2-4 weeks for the rebuild is probably more for paperwork than anything. There may be legal (BATFE) regs and ramifications that require a rebuilt rather than new with new serial number. You may end up with the same serial number on your frame as the original, which could take some time to arrange and ship between factories.

I think you will end up with a good as new gun when you get it back. My thought is all parts will be replaced, since the frame is the firearm for BATFE purposes, and they will archive your original parts for future use in cases of KaBooms.

Another update:

Just recieved my gun back from glock, they replaced the frame and what ever other parts were broke. It appears to be the same barrle, but I cant be sure. The serial numbers are the same. I immediatly unpacked it, cleaned it and test fired it. Put 50 rounds through it with out a problem. (It does shoot a little high and to the right from what it did before, but I can adjust). Needless to say I am a happy camper, and am satisfied with both glock and winchester. My only complaint is that 10 weeks seemed like a long time to make things right. I know that failure investigations can take a while, and I also know I can be impatient, but in the end they made it right, and that is what really counts.

Any time you have pond scum bottom feeders involved and the faintest whiff of lawsuits, "timely fashon" goes right out of the window!! ;)

That's really cool they kept the same serial number, otherwise I guess you'd have to do another transfer, which can be painful in some states like NJ.
