View Full Version : Trigger job?

Does anyone here know if there is a trigger job available for the PM9 and/or MK9? Does anyone know of a website that talks about this? What about reducing the overtravel and reset? My neighbor is a machinist and we would like to try one. :)

On another note, does anyone know of online instructions for a detailed disassembly / re-assembly of the whole pistol?

Thanks!

I do not know about shortening the reset, but I did polish a few things the last time I completely took apart the frame. I paid particular attention to the trigger bar (where the spring contacted it and both ends) and the trigger spacer. It feels smooth, but it could just be in my head.

Sorry for asking but I must - WHY??????????
It is great out of the box, what else would you want to accomplish?
This is not a target pistol and never will be and by making the trigger lighter and shorter you will be dangerously close to an accident waiting to happen - (IMHO)

Shorter and lighter...no...I would not want that.

Polish some parts....well, I was bored and it really helped on my G20.

My trigger had a very faint drag (almost felt like a creaking door - if that makes any sense) that I wanted to take care of. It was where the trigger spring had a bur on its cut end and dragged on the trigger bar. I removed the bur and polished the bar a wee bit. It got rid of that weird feeling.

I polished the spacer because it a had a small ledge developed on the the beveled edge. I noticed no difference after removing it.

Anyway....I think it is mostly in my head...but it doesn't bother me to waste 20 minutes with a dremmel. Plus, I got more familiar with my gun!

I was really wanting it to be shorter, not necessarily lighter. Maybe a few hundred rounds would be a better idea.

Thx.

I agree that the trigger is very good right out of the box. I wouldn't touch it unless there's some major problem. Then it needs to go back and Kahr should make it right.

Kahr Triggers - The more you shoot them the better they get!

If you could get the short reset of a Glock or M&P into a Kahr... I wouldn't have sold my CW9 and started carrying a G19.

I shoot thousands of rounds using the very short reset point of my G34's vanek kit each month. Fully stroking a trigger for each shot now feels weird, slow, and unnatural.

So I changed to a gun with a better trigger. At least for me. :)

Cylinder & Slide gunsmiths have several different enhancement packages for Kahrs. I had them do a level 2 job on my PM9. This included a trigger job, along with assorted polishing designed to enhance reliability and new rapid-acquisition night sights. The trigger pull is smoooth, like a good S&W revolver. The pull weight and reset point are about the same as stock (maybe pull weight is a bit lighter at 6 pounds or so), but the smoothness makes those a non-issue. Their work doesn't come cheap, but it results in the finest CCW pistol around, IMO.

would be nice to have a lighter trigger but out of the box you could not ask for a better DAO trigger,, and if you were to have to use that pistol in self defense you can bet the D.A. is gonna take a close look at your lightened trigger and try to use it against you in court if it went that far ,, unless you have a great DA lol

Famous1 - I couldn't agree with you more.
In fact, every shooting situation is investigated with the civil liability always lurking in the background.
There is no doubt that the subject of tinkering with the factory set trigger will be brought up and played often and loud to the jury to indicate intent, pre-conceived notion to cause bodily injury or death etc., etc.
I know. They pay me to test firearms and testify as expert in court, and although I would never imply any intent from just a mere fact that the trigger was altered - the jury with help of attorneys will always do.

and depending on what state you are in and how liberal your jury is, you might just end up wishing you had never made the decision to defend yourself with deadly force lol ..im not an expert but its nice to know that i was right for once lol .this is why I read combat handguns

+1

My .40 Covert has 'smoothed up' very well, over the years. I simply couldn't see having a trigger job done on it, or on a new one given that it would probably 'smooth up' in the same way.

If a trigger job HAD been done on my Covert, in it's early days, I'm pretty sure that -now- the trigger pull would be dangerously light.

The Kahr's trigger is probably it's best attribute. Smooth front to back similar to a S&W revolver after a trigger job. Nice. I wouldn't mess with it.

I took my entire slide apart and cleaned out the striker tunnel, which was FULL of crap, and it after a light coat of CLP on everything, it was like it had a trigger job.

SEveral other members followed my lead and got equally great results.
