So what do you boys think? We are supposed to go on vacation next week, and I can just see this thing coming across the Bahamas and cancelling my plans.

Too far off to tell right now. More organization would give me cause for concern, but the way it looks now...HAVE FUN!

Shouldn't bother you, G. It's at least 10 days out from the coast (if it goes that way). Moving slow, not strengthening significantly as of the 7:00 update. Supposed to get to lower PR late this weekend.

Well, we are supposed to leave for New England Wednesday afternoon. The predictions are it will probably affect Florida or New England, by midweek or later in the week.

Yeah...it picked up speed over nite/early this morning to 23mph WNW.

I've lived in Florida my whole life, -4 years or so when I lived in Maine. Guess where I was the first time I went through a hurricane? Maine (Hurricane Bob, 8/91). The 'Perfect Storm' was a helluva lot worse (11/91).

YOU MIGHT WANT TO DO SOME PREP BEFORE YOU LEAVE MY FOLKS LIVE IN SOUTH, FL AND IF THEY GO ON VACATION IN SUMMER THEY PUT UP ALL LOOSE OBJECTS IN THEIR YARD AND PUT DOWN AWNINGS BEFORE HAND. I KNOW IT SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF WORK BUT AFTER 2004 YOU NEVER KNOW. WE WENT THROUGH ANDREW BUT 2004 I THINK WAS MORE STRESSFUL, AFTER THE SECOND STORM WE JUST LEFT THE HOUSE BUTTONED UP THE REST OF HURRICANE SEASON. ANYWAY ENJOY VACATION.

If it looks like it's coming, we won't be going anywhere.

Looks like you should be good, G. Pushing a little further south than first expected.

Kinda looks like Wilma's old path

...and Andrew's...and Katrina's...and Charley's...

August storms historically take the southern path....just hope it does not do a reverse and come back across.

I spent 3 weeks in Homestead/Miami after Andrew in '92. Saw entirely too many things I don't ever care to see again.

I went to Florida city two days after Andrew doing releif work with perishable supplys. I could not beleive my eyes compared to what it was like in southern broward. If there where no national guard it literally would have been a riot for our supplies.

We very well may have run into each other. I was with a contingent from the USN down there helping with the Guard.

I was here for Wilma, and it was my first 'real' hurricane since I moved to FL. I do NOT want to go through that again. If there is another hurricane that is as strong, or stronger, than Wilma I don't think the economy down here will survive.

Yea my wife is scared to the point that if another one comes I think i'll be moving. During Wilma she had a pic of the pope taped to the front door she was so scared.
