FYI, putting the html text from the attached *.txt file in your signature line will provide a link back to here for those interested in a GT New Mexico Club.
Technical note: I had to provide the text as a file attachment. Otherwise, if pasted in-line in this message, the text converts to the link.
Ok, I'll add my +1 for a NM Club!

Well, I sent a second note tonight via another path. Let's be patient. No one is particularly getting rich being an administrator here. Let's be patient.
With Albuquerque being the acception, is there anything in NM that's not "rural" ? Or maybe that's a city...Rural, NM 87144
I don't live within town limits or city limits and my property is zoned agricultural. That's one definition of rural. There is a town of 1000 (last census) to 2000 (projected now and at next census) people not more than ten miles from me, and I get their newspaper. Their town council and the people who show up for town meetings discuss the meaning of "rural character" a lot, because the term is used in some of the building code ordinances, and while almost everyone agrees with wanting "rural character," they find that it is in the eye of the beholder. Persons backing a particular building permit see "rural character" in the plans, and persons opposing the building permit will see a violation of the "rural character" charter in the building plan. I am more rural than they are, because my land is outside their town limits, and I don't have to apply to them if I want to build something. They, in turn, are a lot more rural than Rio Rancho, which from here seems to be a suburb of Albuquerque in aesthetic terms though not within the legal boundaries of Albuquerque. I would say in any place but Albuquerque, you can probably find someone who thinks their place is rural.
P.S. This is an example of a New Mexico place that is not rural, because it is wilderness. http://www.gilawilderness.com/
http://www2.srs.fs.fed.us/r3/gila/
I was just kidding of course...and am interested in getting in on the NM talk soom to come to glock talk...and I live in the rural city of Rio Rathole, NM
Does anyone know when the next Zia Gun Club safety training session is? I used to be a member and would like to re-join, but it is so hard to find a time to go to the required safety session. Last time I joined, there was a real active safety officer who would meet you there on the weekend.
Also, is the Roswell gun show still on for this weekend? http://www.nmssa.org/august.html .

Tom Tomasi, is the new orientation officer. GREAT GUY!!
He was my CHG instructor too.
How about that! Last year they didn't have any Saturday classes. My membership fell out when they raised the due after they'd sent out the renewal notices. I'd sent my check in early, and they returned it wanting more. I didn't mind paying more but got busy and overlooked it. The action pistol is what interests me about Zia, and they are the only place around that I know of that has anything like it.

If there is anything about NM that we want to discuss, we can do it right here. Whens the next gun show? I want to rent a table and sell some ammo that I've overbought over the years. Otherwise, it may take me 20 years to burn it all up. I don't want to sell it in this thread, because that's against GlockTalk policy as I understand it. I don't want to have to ship it. I want to rent a table at a gunshow and sell it.

I think the next Alb. one will be Oct. 4-5. What kind of ammo you selling?
My excess that I don't shoot much:
* 1k rounds (approx) 10mm new Georgia Arms new manufacture (not reload) gold dot hollowpoints with new nickle plated brass. I think they are the 185 grain
* 1k rounds (approx) FN Five-Seven Lead Free Hollow Points new, about 6 months old
* 1k rounds (approx) .223 Gerogia Arms reloads (reloaded by Georgia Arms)
I've got a fair amount of .45 that I actually shoot.
I'll send a note to the ABQ gunshow organizer, but too tired tonight.
Oh, I have a friend that often rents a couple of tables. He might let me piggyback onto his. I would pay him of course. It sux a little to be all alone at your own table, because you can't go to the restroom or hotdog stand or anything.
See specs on Georgia Arms ammo here http://georgia-arms.com/ .
For some reason people seem to think they only do reloads. Not true. They do reloads and new also.
I posted this over in the Support Forum. You can't see it. One can only see their own posts and the Moderators' reply in the Support Forum.
I'll send a $50 donation if/when the moderators find time to open "New Mexico Land of Enchantment Club".
I mean no offense. Not intended as anything other than a little incentive.

this still going? +1 here as I will be PCS'ing to Clovis. It would be cool to meet fellow glockers in NM. Well, anything we want to discuss about New Mexico we can do right here. There haven't been any new state clubs added since the beginning of the year, as far as I can tell. The administrators have a pretty full plate right now with all the site revisions going on. So, let's be understanding. Also, some of the "clubs" here on GlockTalk get very little traffic. If we show some traffic here, that may make our case for us. It took nearly a year to get 50 votes. So ...

I used to live in Albuquerque a few years ago, when I was just getting into guns. What are some of the better shops in that area. I remember there was a good one on 4th street, iirc it was call Los Ranchos Gun Shop. I also remember another one called Charlie's I think. It was a good outdoors shop with lots of fishing type stuff too.
I have been to the new Sportsmans Warehouse there, but I prefer to still give business to the local guys.
What are some of your guys favorites in the Alb. metro area?
Ron Petersons (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=guns+near+87123&ie=UTF8&ll=35.08536,-106.589012&spn=0.076697,0.112953&z=13&iwloc=G) is the old line store. I usually buy off Gunbroker and use the local kitchen table FFLs.

Petersons used to be an ass. But i've heard lately that he has improved his attitude towards customers. And he has hired some good knowledge salesmen. I dont know if he's a Glock Stocking Dealer. I know Neve's Uniform Store (Cop Uniforms) is a GSD. Discounts for LE and Military. No ammo though.
Sportsmans Warehouse for cheap practice ammo and WM for more cheap ammo too. I havent been to Los Ranchos GS, last time I was there I was wanting cheap .223-5.56 ammo which they had. But was a couple years ago.
Charlies is great for the fishing, camping stuff. Not much in weapons maybe the nice revolver or 700 Remington for sale. Ammo is limited.
For some premium ammo, Calibers Indoor Shooting Range/Gun Shop is good if you looking for Hornady TAP etc. I bought my AR-15 through them, for a very reasonable price and smooth order and transaction. As Mark19 stated your better off with internet deals, overall Albuquerque GS are a bit overly priced over retail.
... As Mark19 stated your better off with internet deals, overall Albuquerque GS are a bit overly priced over retail ...
FYI, the FFL I use for transfers says he can match Internet prices, but can't compete after adding NM Gross Receipts Tax (aka Sales Tax). So, he sells on the Internet for out of state shipping, and processes incoming sales for people like me. That 7.75% (+/-) that the government gets for NM Gross Receipts Tax (aka Sales Tax) is more markup than many of the discounting Internet dealers get.
The way NM Gross Receipts Tax (aka Sales Tax) is set up in Law, you are not obliged to declare or pay NM Gross Receipts Tax (aka Sales Tax) on purchases that cross state lines. This is different than most states, and may lead to NM being a mail order mecca.

Charley (Chuck) the gunsmith in the back room at Charlies Sporting Goods has done trigger jobs and POA/POI adjustment on all my fixed-sight J-frame snubs. Usually less than one-week turnaround, always perfect POA/POI, and trigger action as smooth as a hot knife thru warm butter.
This would appear to be a factor in why our requests for a new State Forum have been slow-rolled. There is always a reason.

Per Eric's note: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=926854
Shortly, these groups will have the ability to create a full-featured GT forum, if they have more than five members. Every group has a very basic forum, but this new mod would give these groups a forum just like all the rest here.
FYI, our group is now located at:
http://glocktalk.com/forums/group.php?groupid=6
I will upgrade it to a Forum when Eric completes/configures the software option that allows me to do so.
