Upon taking my P9 (YA9) apart after a range session I notices something about the slide stop release. The "cylindrical shaft" part of the slide stop(which goes through the pistol) spins freely on the body on the slide stop...the part that is exterior. I checked my PM9's slide release and the shaft does not spin freely on it...and the parts look identical on both pistols...other than the P9 slide stop is stainless, and the PM9's has the DLC finish on it. Can anyone tell me if the slide stop is supposed to be that way on my P9 or should I contact Kahr to send me new one?

Thanks in advance!

I've had slide stop pins the spin and some that don't. Both are normal. If it works don't sweat it.

Same here. Have seven Kahrs now, and some have pins that spin, some don't. I agree, if it works I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Guys...I do appreciate it! Yes, everything works great with my P9, I just never noticed this with the slide stop before. I'll keep on shooting it as is.

I would sweat it on polymer frames. On polymer frames the lever is made to rotate on the shaft. The reasons I can think of is so that you don't wear out the holes in the frame from repeated use of a rotating shaft. Or maybe it's a binding issue. I have 3 DLC coated slide releases, 2 wouldn't rotate. What I did was, first put the shaft into a padded vise and try to move the lever back an forth until it frees up a little. Then I put the shaft into the padded chuck of a drill and clamp the lever into the padded vise. Then I turn on the drill to rotate the shaft. Be careful it will get hot, but it will eventually start to spin freely. Some oil helps during this process.
