Anyone know if this is a bad combo?
You cannot use an oversize safety with the regular Knoxx Specop stock.
The only way you can use an oversize safety is with a Specop NRS version. This is the setup I am currently using and like it. I have the NRS stock with a Limbsaver recoil pad that I bought from Knoxx. Hope this helps.:)
How hard is it to install the oversized safety?
Thanks

I've heard some people say 5/10/15 mins, and then again I've heard others say only let a 'smith do it. I have a Wilson Combat Scattergun and the Big Button safety did not come installed- I guess due to legal reasons.....I never put it on and frankly, I don't know if I ever will....

It is really easy to put in the oversize safety.
1. Push out the two pins holding the trigger assembly in the receiver.
2. There is one spring loaded pin holding the safety in. Push this pin down with a punch or something small and slide out the safety. Watch out, cause the spring can launch the pin, if you let it go.
3. While holding the pin down, slide the new safety in.
4. Now, reassemble the gun.
Installing the big head saftey was very simple. I put a Vang oversized saftey on my 870 in less than 10 minutes and it was my first time taking the trigger group out, I also cleaned and lubed the trigger group while it was out. It is definetly a worthwhile modification.

Why?

Because of the way the stock works in recoil. Look at Knoxx's website and see the warning they have.

So the reciever slides on the stock during recoil?

Check out the videos on the Knoxx website. That should show it better than I can explain it. Hope this helps

I have an oversized safety and have had no problem with it on my Knoxx stock. I do have a single point sling adapter that gives me a small gap between the safety and the stock.
