View Full Version : Need feedback on Smart Carry
I just purchased a Smart Carry Holster for my Glock 23. I followed the instructions in putting it on but everytime I sit down the barrel of the gun presses hard against the bottom of the crotch of my Levi's. One can easily see the square muzzle of the Glock printing through.
Anyone else experience this and how did you solve it?
This holster is going to take some getting used to. I'm not sure I'm going to keep it - what tips can you give me to make this rig more comfortable
Has anyone used the Crossbreed Super Tuck and what are you feelings on this holster?
Lots of threads here on Glock Talk about the SmartCarry®, one word, holsters.
Your jeans are too tight, wear one size larger and check Charlie's photos on their web site, he wears his jeans a little loose compared to most folks.
  ;)

Papat, I would start by having the backstrap of your 23 as high as possible at the top of the waistband without it showing. If this is achievable, there must be some middle ground where the muzzle doesn't stretch your crotch but the gun is still completely concealed.

Try shifting it a little right or left also. I use mine for my 23 and it works fine. But as stated above try a little bigger pants

PapaT,
I have the same problem and do not wear it like that. I wear mine at 3:00 position with shorts and a cover shirt. Try it different ways before you return it. It is not for everyone but I like the uses I have found for it.
Being a Marine I really liked your belt, but you lost me when I scrolled down to the pictures of you in your skivy's ;)
I carried a G27 at the 3:00 position for years in a SmartCarry. Unparralleled comfort. But slow to draw. Experiment a little with your G23 before giving up on the SmartCarry. Also, you might want to keep the SC holster for a super concealed option when necessary, or use it for a second/backup gun.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'll give all the suggestions a try. Great to have this forum as a resource

As mentioned above, try some other size pants. Switching to a "loose fit" or "relaxed fit" could make a huge difference. Hit the changing room with your carry rig and try a few things out.
Regarding the Cross Breed Supertuck, I've considered one of those also, heard many good things about them. My primary holster is a High Noon Hidden Ally, but I like the idea of a holster with a slide guard when the holster would be directly against my skin, as when wearing a t-shirt.
Someone here suggested wearing a "wife beater" type shirt underneath a t-shirt to solve this. For now, that has been my solution.

Thanks. Good thoughts. I'll give your ideas a try

I use the smart carry often. I try to wear something with a little give. However, I can smart carry with anything. The tightness of the slacks affect draw more than anything else. The answer for you probably is less tight fitting slacks. Excessive heat buildup can be a problem with the smart carry and too tight slacks.
