I would consider it if it wasn't so ridiculously expensive (same for Old Bridge Pistol Club). So, it's off to Ft Dix for me...

Expensive? I know CJ has the $400 initation but $175 year for CJ vs $50 a year for Dixx? Dixx charges $3 per hour so after say 40 hours of shooting you are at the same price.

Don't get me wrong I like both but CJ is about 20 mins closer to my house plus a get a $5 discount when shooting IPSC and steel shoots.

Perhaps it's the initiation fee that scares me away. I could almost buy another Glock for that amount of money. While Dix is a 30 mile trip for me, it still is more cost effective in the long run. I was tempted to join the Somerset County Fish & Game Assn, but that was a bit too far. I'm not trying to put down the CJRPC or the OBRPC, but it is simply beyond my means. Aside from property tax increases & insurance increases, I'm too busy supporting Rutgers these days with more to hit college soon. That leaves only a modest budget to keep the Glock fed.

Amen to that. I went to Rutgers when tuition was $2,000 a semester. lol.

Anyway, back to my original intent of the thread, anyone else go to CJ? I am always looking for someone to shoot with.

I have been wanting to look into CJ how is it and is it worth the money that ask. Someone told me that you can shoot there 24/7 and that they also allow you to hunt the property.

The outdoor range has time limits (I believe an hour after sunrise and hour before sunset), the indoor range is being reworked I would think when that's open you can shoot at night there. Yes members can hunt the acerage during the week of deer season.

I belong to Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Club. It is right across the river from Trenton, NJ and next to Morrisville, PA. I think it is a great club. It has indoor handgun/rimfire rifle range; outdoor handgun and rifle range; trap, sporting clay, archery and a plinking range.

Is the Fort Dix club open to the public or do you have to be in the Armed Forces to join?

Also, if it is open, what is the longest range permitted for Rifle fire?

Ft Dix is open to the public but you need to join in order to use the facilities or go with a member. You can go, sign up, and shoot in the same day.

See http://www.dixmwr.com/Recreation%20_Facilities/Rod%20&%20Gun%20Club/RodGun_Home.htm.

I don't remember the rifle range distance. Its at least 150 yards...

They have a pistol range, rifle range, various skeet/trap station, and an archery range.

Don't hold your breath. The owner is a notorious liar. It's never going to happen. Trust me.

I was there once in 1995 or 96, impressive... I shot at the rifle range, and pistol range, and had lunch in the picnic area.
