View Full Version : MTAC - the best holster on the planet
I have been wearing mine 12 hours a day with my Glock 27. This is the first IWB holster in 4 years I didn't HATE.
You owe it to yourself to check this thing out. I would pay 5x the amount I paid because it works so well.

I am finally convinced - I ordered mine today!
The introductory rate of $70 expires 9/15 - will go up to $80 after that, so order soon.
This is the first IWB holster I have forgot I was wearing. That is the ultimate test for comfort.

Some of you guys are like psychics around here...I came on to start a thread about a kydex holster vs. a UDC holster from glockstore.com. Those are the two I had decided to choose between...and wondered if anyone had experience with either/both. It's for a glock 36 b.t.w.

Actually I hope you wouldn't pay 5x more. As much as I love my CTAC I believe it is WAY overpriced. They probably have 10 bucks tops in the thing then they sell it for 70+. CTAC's should be in 30-40 buck range IMHO.

They have to cover the overhead for the free smarties somewhere!!!
I got my MTAC yesterday and it is awesome. It's my first IWB holster, so I don't have a real comparison. I just got my CCW in the mail last Saturday, so last night was my nachos trip!!
I don't care how much profit they have. I can finally carry my Glock 27 all day IWB instead of my S&W 442 in my front pocket.
I am much better armed should I ever have to defend my life. My life is worth an extra $40. It might even be worth an extra $50.

As with all things, the price they should be is the price people are willing to pay... and they seem to be doing just fine selling them at $70. If it was possible to make something as good for $30-40, a competitor would do just that.
Molding kydex itself isn't the impressive feat... it's being set up to quickly ship out kydex in the shape of 100 different models of guns/barrel lengths.

Note: The CTAC is not the same as the MTAC.

What do you mean by deeply?
If it is anything like the CTAC which I believe it is you can tuck it in about 1 1/2 inches.

I don't like my CTAC so I am selling it. Would I be any happier with the MTAC? CTAC is just too rigid for me and I didn't like the clips.

1 1/2 INCHES IS NOT A GOOD TUCK. I NEED TO BE TUCKED 3-6 INCHES TO BE COMFORTABLE.
HAPPY.

The MTAC looks like a knock-off of Tucker Gunleather's "The Answer" holster.

kensteele I think you would like the MTAC because the leather backing is forgiving and is somewhat flexible. I have only had mine for a day, but it appears that the MTAC will be a lot like breaking in a new wallet...at first it seems a bit stiff, but the more you wear it and use it the more it will just fit your shape. Time will tell.
I have worn it against bare skin and against a tshirt, and the comfort is the same for me.
I've always heard concealed carry should be comforting, not comfortable...I think the MTAC puts that argument to rest!
Hope that helps a little.

I agree. They should sell them for whatever the market will bear. Just look at the AR-15's. The EBR's are basically $300 guns, yet they fetch $800 to $1000, or more, in the marketplace.

Randy, Production Manager for Comp-Tac here, on JB's SN. I felt I needed to stick up for my guys (and the gals in the shipping department as well) regarding the price of our holsters. We don't have fancy robots that make these holsters for us here; your holster is made, upon order, by several people. Your holster is inspected, packaged, and shipped by several people. With an online order, a person sends you several emails informing you of the status of your order. With a phone order, a person talks to you (for a long time, in some cases) and guides your decisions to make sure you get the perfect holster for your needs.
Good help is hard to find, and harder to keep. We have a lot of good help here, and it's reflected in our customer service, turnaround times, and quality control (though, being people, we do make the occasional mistake). I'm sure there are some quality holsters in the 30-40 buck range, but our high standards lead us to put more than that into our holsters, and we have to sell them accordingly.
I'm sorry for the rant, but I'm proud of our gear and the guys who make it.
Randy
Randy again. Forgot to mention my point.
What I meant by the above rant is that you're not just paying for overhead, kydex, leather, design, postage, and Smarties. You're paying the labor cost for the attentive people who make your holster your way when you order it, then the people who check it, box it up, and throw some smarties in there.
Randy
I personally think the price is fair. For $70 or so, you will never have to buy another IWB holster again. Not a bad deal.

From what I'm reading about CTAC,MTAC etc.
Randy, you have damn good reason to be proud of those employees!!
I know how hard GOOD help is to find as a business man.
Now when the heck are you gonna' make a MTAC for my loved CZ82 that I would love to carry??

I didn't get smarties with my MTAC either, but I did get some with the extra clips that I ordered separately.

Crap! I've spent 10 gazillion dollars on CTAC's for every pistol I own, and now your telling me that the new improved version is out?! I need a scholarship or grant, or I need to quit reading these threads.
You got any money I could borrow............

I just got mine today for my G26. I really like it and their customer service is fantastic. However, I think it you are a business guy that walks around an office the Fist Secret System #22 is impossible to beat. With the velcro straps you really can't see anything odd at all. My MTAC is going to be more for weekend carry when I leave my shirt untucked. It is awesome though. I went fishing with it today and it was very comfortable!
i dont have a ctac or mtac or any other comptac holster. i will say that i have read so many positive customer service, quick service, satisfied customers that im tempted to order one just cause.
and regarding pricing comments...id gladly pay a couple hundred dollars for a holster that is comfortable and well made.
sounds like a great business and example of customer service comptac is running.
