Any of you make your own and have any recipes you'd like to share?

Yeah, what he said.

I had a friend once and her husband made the best marinara from scratch. One recipe I wish I had asked for. He was Italian and he was one dynamite cook.

This is the recipe I grew up with, and I prefer it to everything I've ever had from a store or restaurant. It's not too salty, and it's not too sweet, though both are easy enough to adjust if you prefer it that way.

Marinara Sauce

1 (28 oz) can tomato puree
2 t dried oregano
2 t dried basil
2 bay leaves
1/4 t pepper
1 T honey
water (3/4 of puree can)

1) in large saucepan over med-low heat, combine tomato puree with water
2) stir in remaining ingredients, simmer a minimum of half an hour, adding water as needed
