Has anyone taken the Utah CCW class in the Raleigh area? Would you recommend your instructor? Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I don't.

But, just curious.... Any reason why? It will only add two states (MN and WY) over the NC CCH license.

Nice bike.

The NC license is only valid for residents. I'm moving to another state at the end of the year. I can't apply for a concealed carry license in the new state until I'm a resident there, which means getting their DL and giving up my NC DL. After I apply, who knows how long it will take to actually get the new license. If I have a Utah non-resident CCW, I'm covered during the gap between resident licenses.

A Florida license would work too, but considering fees and privacy issues, the Utah non-resident license seems like a better choice.

Ah, ok. I know of a guy in Columbia, SC that teaches it, but I think it requires the SC license first.

Hmm. Here's his site: http://cwptraining.com/

If you can't find one locally, it looks like you might be able to get it there, if you want to take a trip. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. The backup plan is to find a Utah class after I move and hold on to my NC DL and CHP until I have the UT license in hand. I'd rather have things squared away before the move but c'est la vie.

Why not just pay $20 and get a NH non-resident to CYA in the meantime ? All you have to send with the application is a copy of your current one, and of course the money.

Because a NH non-resident does absolutely nothing for me.

I left voicemail messages for several NC-based instructors listed on the BCI website but got no response.

Do any Utah BCI-certified instructors within 100 miles of Raleigh want my business?

Going once...:wavey:
