I'm considering getting a Benelli for home defence
Does any one know the pros and cons of
the M2(recoil operated) and the M4(gas operated)
Opinions apreciated, thanks

For HD use, get a SuperNova. 1/4 the price, and still a Benelli. I had the Nova SP and it's a solid gun.
Recoil operated guns get finicky with ammo and strapped-on accessories (lights, sidesaddles) because it affects how much recoil the gun is getting to make it operate. Which is why the military specified gas operation for the M1014 (M4 Super 90) so they could add night vision, etc without jamming the gun.

Thanks Mr Murphy
But If you could have one auto-12gauge
What would it be?
M-2, M-4, siaga-12, remington 11-87 ect ???
Or just forget about it and stick with my 590.

If you have a 590, stick with it. Solid gun, and along with the 870P one of my favorites.
Of the autos, I have the most time on a M1 Super 90 and the 1187, so if I had to, I would choose one of those. The M4 I have played with but not shot, and the Saiga is a good gun, but finding mags/etc may get harder.
Like MrMurphy mentioned. If you want to hang stuff off of your shotgun, then the M4. If you just want the shotgun itself with maybe a ghostring, then M2 would fit the bill.

Considering it's 130F outside, sandy, windy, and i'm surrounded by a bunch of friendlies who are surrounded by a bunch of somewhat friendlies all speaking Arabic, this is unlikely.
And since i'm down to ONE shirt (the original pattern shirt) it ain't happening for a while....
