View Full Version : A way to change elevation in sights?

I have a G36 with Trijicon night sights on it.
I believe my G is shooting high and to the left consistently.
Any advice on how to fix this? I know I can "drift" my rear sight to the right to correct this. However, how can I change elevation?
Can't help answer but I can bump it one time...you may want to ask in the gunsmithing forum.
Adjustable rear sight or different height front sight. Both are available.

I actually went to a range about an hour from me.
Glock was doing a raffle and Michelle Theriault was there (Team Glock Nascar driver)
They were awesome guys.
They told me I actually had a 6.9 sight on the back instead of the standard 6.5 which is why I was shooting high. (bought the gun used and didn't know this) They did a straight swap with me for free!
A bunch of them actually came out on the range and shot a bunch to make sure. We sighted the gun in and everything is working great now.
Awesome guys. Great day. Great gun. I'm happy.
glad you got it straightened out  but the 6.9 is the standard size for the .45/10mm

so by going from the 6.9 to the 6.5 rear sight you lowered the POI by about 2"

Interesting. So maybe they were wrong.
Nevertheless, we had about 4 people shoot my G36 at 10 yards and all of us were shooting high until the 6.5 was put in.
The sight also had to be drifted far right to be accurate.
your ammo and shooting distance will affect your POI
shooting to the left is usually "jerking" the trigger
As you get more time in with your 36 I'll bet you move the sight back to center :)
what ammo are you using ?
The lighter bullets will hit higher than the 230gr.

I've been shooting with winchester and blazer.
It's interesting though. I am not opposed to looking amy shooting experience and form as the problem as I have only been shooting for about 2 months so far.
However my G23 with a 9mm conversion barrel, I can put a pretty tight group dead center at 15 yards...but the G36 seems just like a totally different animal.
So at 10 yards I was pretty much dead on.
At 7 yards with the guidelines set by Glock, my POI should be how much lower?
An issues that I have is that at my range, the closest I can put a target is 15 yards...in MA the range for a self defense shooting is 7 yards. Oh well. I gotta sight in somehow.

My 36 was also shooting high with all types/weight of ammo. I called Glock and they sent my an adjustable rear free. No charge, no hassle. They even called me to make sure everything had been taken care of. Works for me!

I put Meprolight adjustables on my g27 and g36. Work well except they are about twice as tall as the stock sights. Not an issue for me or my primary holsters but would be for others who have molded holsters. Absolutely would not work in my kydex holster.
