I want to upgrade the sights on my Glock 19 and have narrowed it down to Truglo. Fiber optic performance during conditions of light and night sights in low light. Are they the best of both worlds or a compromise?
Feedback from Truglo users would e greatly appreciated.

I love mine.... I have them on my 22 and they are much brighter than my Trijicons on my 27. They are bright in any lighting conditions.

I've got the TruGlo TFO on my carry guns.

LOVE them.

However, I've read here that the plastic light guide
will dissolve in certain gun cleaning solvents.

Do you remember the solvents? I was thinking about getting the TFO on my Glock that I haven't bought yet.

Since the search function is disabled, I can't really search.

I have the Tru-Glo TFOs on my G30 & G26 which are my primary carry pistols. IMO they give the best sight picture in full daylight, no light at all, and everything in between.

I have them on my G19, and really like them.

No worries about solvents, you shouldn't need to use solvents in the area of your sights.

They have an excellent sight picture, but if it's a gun that is going to be shot A LOT, then I wouldn't choose them.

By "lots" I mean at least a thousand rounds per month. I know two IDPA shooters who've had fiber-optic elements fall out, and one of them also had issues with the front sight repeatedly coming loose with loctite installed.

For a defensive gun that doesn't get the snot beaten out of it each week at a match, it would probably be fine.

I have TFOs on all of my carry Glocks and wouldn't trade them for anything. The only issues I have seen with TFOs are:

1. Inconsistent finish. Some start wearing instantly, while others hold up a little better. The bad ones seem to wear just sitting in the safe. I had one set come out of the box looking like crap. On the plus side I haven't seen any corrosion on the sets that have worn badly.

2. Inconsistent fit in rear dovetail. I don't know for certain that this is the TFO and not the Glock slide, but I have seen other people say the same thing. For 2 out of 3 sets that I have installed, I have had to file/sand the TFOs to get them to fit. Not a big deal.

I have a set on my G19. I loved them so much I sold my AmeriGlo's and bought more TruGlo's.

Great sites.

I have the TruGlo TFO's on my G-17C and even with the front sight getting dirty quicker, it's easier to get a sight pic when their dirty, I love em, however, my new 92fs came with trijicons installed and side by side in the dark, they look the same as far as brightness, but in the daylight the TFO's out perform the Triji's.. My G-21SF will soon get a pair, but may go with Trijicon's w/novak lowmount rear instead, unsure.... Get a set. Ya won't be dissapointed............J.

I think the TFOs are very bulky and they have a crappy warrenty. I have installed meps on both my g23s and love them. Im not saying truglo TFOs are bad but I feel they take away from the beauty of a glock.

I have a set on my G30 and the only thing I regret is putting the regular fiber optic Truglo on my G23. The combination of fiber optic for daylight use and the tritum for night time use is just great, especially for older eyes.

I would rather have a semi-ugly gun I can shoot in low light conditions then a purty one. Besides my G27 is a vision to look at, my first Glock.

I have them on my carry G23. IMO, they are the brightest I have used - day or night and do well in competitions. I have not had any problems with them. My brother and his wife changed their Dawson Precision Fiber Optic sights on their IDPA/IPSC competition G34s and experienced better scores (faster sight pick up), but they have experienced problems with their rods falling out. YMMV.

I'm assuming you compared it to the trijicons with the fiber optic element as well?

I'm mostly interested in the tritium. Should I just go with tritium only sights since the fiber optics seem to be having problems coming out? Or are the fiber optic elemennts worth it?

And I tend to have to clean around the sights on all my guns. Actually, I clean the entire thing since it gets pretty dirty from gunpowder.

They are unique and impressive, I'll give them that. But they also have more complaints than any other sight brand I've seen on GT.

Posted Complaints on Fairly New TFO Sights Include:

. Tritium Lamps Failing
. Tritium Lamps Going Dim
. Fiber Optic Rods Falling Out
. Poor Workmanship On Assembly
. Poor Finish From The Factory
. Poor Durability With Holstering
. Fiber Optic Rods Dulled By Solvents
. Poor Warranty (90-Days)

In addition, add the usual comments and complaints with sights, most of which are traced to poor installation by the gun shop or owner.

But TFOs seem to be like Bill Clinton. People love and defend them, justify their short-comings, touch them up, glue them, and generally fiddle with them to make them work; then say that it's all good! Brother, that's love!

That's brand loyalty, deserved or not!

They are pretty cool. ;)

They remind me of those very sexy British sports cars of the 60s & 70s. Way cool! But a PIA to live with & maintain.

any gun can "shoot" under any light condition. However if you have ever seen a pistol that had meps on it you would know that it has a good visible sight picture during high and Low light conditions. Meps also have a 12yr warrenty where the truglos do not.

am I to gather though that the TRUGLO front sight comes loose from repeated holstering/draws, compared to other brands?

The front sight is long, about an inch. Mounted on a G34, the opening on the top of the slide causes the sight to hang over. This is capable of causing the sight to work its way loose.

Im on my second front sight in in a year from this. I used some additional bonding on the metal surface before I used loctite on the hex nut. So far, it is holding up.

I use Truglo TFO on my G17. Awesome in dalight, dusk or pitch black. you sure won't need to squint to see these sights.

I have TFO's on my G21 and G26. They are the best sights I have ever had for carry. No problems at all with either. I installed them myself - easy.

Got the green front, yellow rear on my CCW Glock 19. Man in the daylight those things light up like a christmas tree! They're really bright in no-light as well. However, I have to admit that there are some low-light conditions where it's a little difficult to see them quickly. It would have helped if the front sight had a white ring around it. The only thing I wasn't pleased with is that my sights bagan to rust a bit.
