Ok, friends and family think I am crazy for getting another Glock (this will be my 6th Glock). Let alone, another longslide. I already have a G24c (2nd gen) and G34 (3rd gen). Now I have a G17L (2nd gen) on the way, and it "should" be here tomorrow. I am quite excited if you can't tell already....
congrads on your new glock, you live in the usa , get what you want and be happy.

And here it is. My G17L. When comparing it side by side to my G24c,and G34, I notice that the cutout is noticeably longer on the G17L. Why is this? The G17L certainly feels lighter than my G24c, and I am not sure if the larger cutout would be the reason.
I haven't fired the gun so I am unsure of what to expect, but so far I am happy.

I believe the cutouts are weight reduction for correct cyclic rate of the slide. But I could be wrong.

Those sights look like they are adjustable glued on in front of the standard glock sights. I just can't tell if something else is going on or not.

I assure you, there is no glue on or near the rear sight. I was told that this is the orginal style Glock adjustable sight which came out in the 80s. My gun was produced in 1990.

OH, I got it, that makes more sense, that it is a older style.

Nice gun! Doesn't look like it's been fired much.
I had the exact same sight on 2nd gen G17. Odly enough my 2nd gen G17 came with the newer style...
As for your friends and fa,ily that think that you are crazy about having multiple Glock, just tell them that you are simply trying to get a better return on your spare magazines investment ; )
Mike.
I bought my 17l about a month before the Conyers Gssf shoot and I ran something like 500 rounds through it it break it in and practice up for the competition. I grabbed a 12th place finish behind a bunch of master shooters to go along with my 4th in Am civ. and a 14th in the sub class. The longslide was a great training gun for me because the cycle rate is just long enough to suit my pace of shooting. I found that I shot better with my other guns because I was thinking of front sight, front sight, front site, (wait for the sights to aline). I have a shooting buddy that kept trying to talk me into a 1911 longslide or a Smith Model 41 over the 17L, but I was persistant in my search for the 17L and he loves to get his hands on it and shoot the centers out of the targets, and by the way he is a damm good target shooter with everything but the glocks and now I am afraid that when I see him at the range I will probably have to share my longslide. Oh well, It's a great gun and I don't mind outshooting his $2200.00 1911 longslide.
