If PAF could have like 12 of these, okey na for protecting national sovereignty.

Madami yan sa Vietnam war ginagamit. Halos phased out na yan but are really excellent for closein support . Deadly as the cobra choppers.

Amazing! Crazy Russian pilots.

One squadron's worth should take care of any aerial incursions. We could get overflown by bombers on a regular basis and can't do anything about it. While we're at it, we should also get a squadron's worth of Mi-24s to pound our local insurgency to smithereens.

And no problem making our pilots learn Russian; the Russkies obligingly label the cockpits of their export models in English.:)

why buy russian? remember the iraqi army who bought exclusive russian planes, tanks etc?

massacre is the word against american technology.

if we can buy, get an air superiority fighter that has proven itself for 20 years or so, the f15, and for fighters f16. for ground support, a-10 and apache and cobras.

why? it has proven itself so many times over.

for the future. if we need stealth, manouverability, speed, act as a mini awacs, and very expensive, made to replace the f15 is the f 22

my 2 cents

It's always pilot quality that matters most. Put a guy like Chuck Yeager in a MiG or Sukhoi and he will always beat the pants off any F-15 or F-16 driver, even if he's now in his 80s.

The Israelis, in US aircraft, beat the Arab air forces not because Soviet aircraft are inferior but because Israeli pilots are among the best.

I read somewhere that the best fighter pilots in the USAF are not those young hotshots but the middle-aged, balding and paunchy pilots from the Air National Guard.

i beg to differ.

us technology beats greatest pilots most especially old ones. why? once a target is identified usually by an awacs.

the phoenix missile or something like that is fired from an f14/15/16 or whatever and hits the target from afar.

Thats also why they won at desert storm. No targets for the enemy. lots of targets for the Americans. You cant shoot what you cant see.

the pilot receives orders. and presses a button and he won. no more threat. no need to engage from eyeball distance.

with the f22. you cant see it. even on radar until it opens up a port to fire its guns/missles/bombs. then when the port closes, the plane dissapears! how can you shoot something that you cant see but he can see you? so what happens to the greatest fighter pilot if he gets shot by a couple of stealth missles from a stealth plane from afar?

So my vote is for US tech. besides, our country is a US ally and i dont think we would buy from other countries if we can afford it.

I agree with catsmeow if the fight is fair. But he has to train a lot using migs since controls are supposed to be different with what he uses.

but battles are won with no rules and fighting fair on a superior enemy is suicide(as the vc found out thus they changed tactics). not fighting fair by a superior enemy is money in the bank.
