NH is now taking 36 days for renewal . . . received mine (2nd renewal) mid-August, 2007.

NH forms can be found here: http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp/forms.html

ME info and forms can be found here:
http://www.maine.gov/dps/msp/licenses/weapons_permits.html

It has been a few years since I renewed my CCW (they last 5 years), but in CT it is really easy. The only hard part is you have to go to the State Police main building (I think there are a couple other SP offices scattered about that can do it). Show up, sign a couple forms with at least 2 forms of ID, have picture taken, 15 minutes later you are done with a new 5-year license.

Hopefully it hasn't changed!

You are welcome.

If you are renewing a current license, NH sends you a renewal form ~45 days before. I strongly suggest that you send it off immediately due to the delays in their current system.

I sat on my renewal app for ~2 weeks and received my new one only 2 days before my license expired. Since I was planning a vacation in NH at the end of August, I was sweating it a bit.

That's also why I had done the research on NH laws (refresher) and ME laws (don't have a permit there) as I had planned a day-trip to ME, but had to scuttle it due to car problems (leaking head gasket overheating the car).

Can I get my ME non resident as easy as my NH?

No idea, never applied in ME as I never go there.
