Hi there Okie buddy

I started looking at that sweep picking stuff last summer. It's not really my style of music but it is interesting. Some of the kids who do that stuff on YouTube are simply amazing. There is going to be a lot of talented musicians coming out into the public eye in the next 10 years. I think guitar music is going to go through a major transformation between now and 2020. Should be an interesting ride.

This is more along my style: this is a live recording of us from this past Friday night:

Hope you're doing great Okie buddy.

You're not Scott Auld. You're that out-of-focus freepatriot guy.

Scott....
Where do you see guitar music going over the next 13 years? I'm up for something completely out of the ordinary like Stanley Jordan. Edward Van Halen blazed a path as did guys like Satriani and Malmsteen.
What do you see for the future?

I agree about some of these yungins out there. Jeez Louise.

Are you still the musical director at your church?

Hi Kurt

I think these kids putting their Youtubes up today have an incredible advantage over us old farts. They can basically have a million online friends, learning from each other, watching each other's techniques, replying online with reply-videos, getting tabs and chords for millions of songs for free, off the web, etc. When I was 15, I had to walk to the music store and pay two bucks for sheet music for one song, had to tape songs off the radio, and basically had about five friends who you could go to their house and try to learn by copying them.

I would be disappointed if today's kids didn't improve on us. The next generation always stands on the shoulders of the previous generation; it's our job to be stable enough that they don't fall down.

The things that Tom Morello does is pretty ground breaking:

I think that is the kind of stuff that is the Hendrix and Eddie of the NEXT ten years. Stuff that blends styles from beatboxers and Deejays and rock all into one song. It's their world now, we just live in it.

Yes, I am the worship leader and one of the elders at NDCC: http://newdawn.org

Hope you are having a great week, Kurt :) :wavey:

<-- can't do the sweep picking thing. Tried it some but I'd need a ton more practice to get any good at it.
