I had several different longterm, ongoing problems with my Lasermax which their customer service department went out of their way to fix. The problems included everything from recoil springs wearing out with less than 1,000 rounds on them, to the laser turning itself on and off during live fire, to being totally mis-aligned re: POA/POI, to the slide not returning to full battery after each shot.
Lasermax worked so hard to resolve each and every issue I had, I think it bears me sharing the letter I wrote to Lasermax with you:
"Hi Bob:
After receiving and installing the new parts you sent me for my Lasermax [new recoil spring, new slide lock, new metal washer] on my Glock 23, I have just returned from my second trip to the range using the new parts and would like to give you my report: OUTSTANDING! Everything worked perfectly! Not one FTF/FTE. Not one problem with the slide returning into full into battery. Not one problem with the Lasermax turning on or off by itself. Everything was perfect!
Now, I owe you a big thanks. You have truly worked hard to make my unit right, and I want you to know I appreciate your efforts. I know I was mad at times, but now that everything seems fine (and let’s keep our fingers crossed that everything stays fine), I am very happy with the unit and with how hard you worked for me.
Further, the unit was more accurate than normal. It was spot-on at 9 feet just as-well-as-it-was at 30 feet.
Needless to say, I am very happy with Lasermax and specifically with all of the personal time you put into this Bob.
I also appreciate the T-Shirt you sent.
I believe that acknowledging good customer service is just as important, or maybe more important than acknowledging bad service. And to that end, I want to make sure your bosses know about all of this and what a great job you did, so if you’d like to give me their email addresses, I’ll make sure they know how you worked on this until it was made right.
Also, I have made a change to my routine at the range to try and stave off any early failures on the Lasermax, or the recoil spring: I only shoot my first one hundred rounds with the Lasermax in place. I then swap-it-out with my regular, Glock recoil spring assembly, in order that the Glock spring takes the full brunt of my range trip as-well-as the rest of the 300-400 rounds in that session. I figure if I can save some wear and tear on the Lasermax, why not?
I would request two further items, Bob:
If you would please keep me up-to-date by sending me any updated parts for my unit that come out in the future,
and to please send me two (2) back-up Lasermax recoil springs for my unit now, so if the spring I am using wears out prematurely, I’ll be ready. After that, if those work properly, I’ll purchase any further springs from you [which Bob agreed to do].
Once again, thank you Bob!"
Lasermax has really gone above and beyond to fix my laser issues.
Don't be afraid to purchase a Lasermax. It will work. And if it doesn't, they will make sure it does - until YOU are happy with it. And believe me, once any potential bugs are worked out (if you ever have any bugs), you will be very thrilled, just as I am with the unit!
I have found it well worth it, even with the problems I had, to have a totally internal laser. There's nothing quite like having the laser so close to the bore.
I also believe that Lasermax now has most, if not all, of the above bugs worked out.
Full disclosure: I do not work for Lasermax and am not affiliated in anyway other than being a very happy customer.
