AP-9 help please

i have a kimmel indistries Ap-9 that i picked up in a trade that i can not get to shoot more than one round at a time.....i was just wondering if the problem could be caused by the aftermarket mag that cam with it.....please help before i turn this one into a really cool paperweight......
