Found some good info as far as ranges and stuff goes too. BTW, Story's sucks *****, just so everyone knows. I bought my gun new from Shooters, worth the drive. mossy500camo 01-13-2008, 23:33 Wow, never thought to look for this forum, nice to see other shooters around the Lee County area. Found some good info as far as ranges and stuff goes too. BTW, Story's sucks *****, just so everyone knows. I bought my gun new from Shooters, worth the drive. I guess we all have our opinions. I think Shooters suck and wouldnt waste my time driving there again. Some of the little pawn shop in Lee have some nice firearms. But that's one mans opinion. cowboywannabe 01-14-2008, 06:26 i still have had good luck at Pawn City in Lanett..... mossy500camo 01-19-2008, 15:45 i still have had good luck at Pawn City in Lanett..... Nooooo........... not me my friend. Never ever again. packingaglock23 01-19-2008, 15:51 I wouldn't go too far and say Shooters are the best around. But their offerings are alot more compared to around in the Lee Co area. Lots of Army folks in that area, so they stock up on alot of stuff that others wouldn't even think to carry. Their prices are reasonable compared to Story's thats for sure. Just for laughs I took my G23 down to Storys to look into trading for a new (or newish) G19. My G23 is practically new, less than 200 rounds through it, and only a year old. They told me it would be upwards of $250 plus my gun for the trade. Thats about half of what I paid for the gun, and I have everything my gun came with still. Now that goes to mention they didn't even care to ask to see my gun. All they asked is if it was Gen3 or not. I said no thanks and walked out. When I got my G23 from Shooters, I took my old Mossberg 410 pump that I've had since I was 14 which was in excellent condition and offered a trade towards the G23. They asked to see it and I had it with me, they looked it over and even test fired it in their indoor range. They offered me $150 towards my G23 and I agreed and put my G23 on layaway that day. Had it paid off in about 1-2 months. Some guys are ******* ex-army folks, which are hard to deal with, but some are rather nice and help you out when they can. I even saw my first civilian P90 there, one nice looking gun. They have a huge selection no doubt. [Edit] BTW...mossy500camo where are you located? [Edit] mossy500camo 01-19-2008, 17:51 Oh HELL! Everyone lets get together and go to GUn Country in La Grange. LOL! Then tell me Storys is a rip off. Location? Chambers co. And you? Just curious.... What price did they resale that shotty for? Last I checked a USED Mossberg shotty any Gauge runs about $150. I have a feeling that some poor soul somewhere got screwed overpaying for a used shotty. When he could have had a BRAND new gun for about $200 Enough of bickering. I rest my case. packingaglock23 01-19-2008, 23:42 Not sure what they resold it for. I've sure they turned a profit though. But like I said, it was my baby since I was 14, rarely used, and always cleaned afterwards, then stored in a padded gun case. Anyways, opinions aside, I'm located in the Opelika/Beulah area. Life's good in central Alabama. :) cowboywannabe 03-05-2008, 17:02 on the right side of the dirt here in Chambers county.... glocked_n_loade 03-05-2008, 20:12 cowboy... are you LEO in Ga or AL?..... if AL could you PM me.... i have a question for you. cowboywannabe 03-06-2008, 06:20 Policing in Ga., used to reserve for an S.O. in Al. glocked_n_loade 03-06-2008, 18:58 I know what the view is in my county (LEE), but what is the view on open carry in alabama by the SO there?(i think i know the answer to that already).... and what is the "basis" for that view? i mean where is that view coming from?.... im not trying to make anyone upset... just wondering how that got started. i am finding a lot of things that i have been told, that i cannot find laws for in the alabama chapter code list. Open carry is just the most obvious discrepancy i have ran across. and secondly... is there any way to clarify these discrepancies in your opinion, or is it best left alone? cowboywannabe 03-07-2008, 10:04 there is no STATE prohibition against open carry while on foot. you can not carry a gun in a vehicle in any fashion without a permit. now back to open carry on foot....while there is no STATE prohibition against it, local LEOs in some jurisdictions have orders to arrest anyone doing so on the basis of causing a breach of the peace, causing public panic and or fear....while in other local jurisdictions especially rural ones, it is not uncommon nor frowned upon to see open carry.... take in mind that while hunting it is quite normal to see a sidearm carried open and to see hunters in local mom and pop stores buying lunch and what not during the season..taking a break from the hunt.....it really is up to the local LEOs and what thier marching orders are....and even then its based on Officer discretion.... but for the small fee and simple process of getting an Al. ccw permit, my advise is to just get one and stay concealed so you dont panic the sheep.... edited: start a grass roots .org like the folks in Virginia did www.vcdl.org in Virginia even in the liberal strong holds of NoVa it is accepted by LOEs that folks can open carry without a permit and even to the chaggrin(sp?) of the liberals it is the law to open carry even if have a permit if you go to a resturant that serves alcohol... glocked_n_loade 03-07-2008, 16:13 thanks for your response cowboy... i do have my CCW in alabama and i do carry concealed.. just would be nice to have options at times. (summer weather or quick trips), or the alcohol issue... i would like to be able to carry when i take my wife out to dinner at Applebees or any restaurant like that. seeing how it is not really against the law. oh and on the grass roots thing... check out: http://forum.alabamagunrights.org/index.php again thanks for your response. elrod 03-26-2008, 17:04 The Elmore Co. chapter in Wetumpka is present, sir!
