I was just curious as to who uses the G23's besides us GT'ers...

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head is.......

The FBI
The Kentucky Traffic Enforcement (I can't remember their exact name, I call them the DOT cops, they are the ones at weight stations and mostly the interstates).

Phoenix PD issues the 22 or 23 depending on officer preference.

To save room on the thread the question should be stated "who doesn't" issue 22 or 23.

However to answer your question a few that I know of include the FBI, DEA, State Of Illinois (ISP), New Jersey Fish and Game, Kerrville-Texas PD and most swat teams.

Boston PD issues the G23 (and G27 to plainclothes/Lts and above).

Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, they mostly handle all DOT laws and regulations. A few years ago they got full state wide police authority, as well did the Fish and Game officers, and Water Patrol.


From what I read once before, the Alabama State Police (or is it highway patrol?) issues the Glock 23 as a service weapon.

Seattle PD issues the Glock 22, although I'm sure they allow the G23 as well.

The Georgia State Patrols standard issue pistol is the glock 22. At one time, I think the GSP's duty ammo was the winchester 165 grain ranger talon jhp. I not sure if that is still the case (with the ammo) however.

I think the GBI is issued the glock 23 whereas the GSP uses the glock 22.

The Alabama State Troopers are also issued glocks and I belive they use the glock 22, as well.

Vermillion, South Dakota PD- Officer prefference between a 22 or 23

Sioux Center Iowa PD- Officer prefference, 22 or 23


Most departments that use Glocks offer officers the choice between the full size or the compact in the choosen caliber for duty use.
