View Full Version : 5 Days for my CCW Bedford County
I've been a resident for almost a year now and I was able to get home to fill out the paper work at the Sheriffs office. The next day I had to get back to Norfolk and I stopped in to see if it was ready and the deputy told me just have to take the paper to the clerk and pay the $40.
Came home today, checked my mail and there it was!
Going to stop at Office Depot or Staples tomorrow on the way back to get it laminated.
There is absolutely no reason that all counties in VA couldn't issue CHP's that fast if they wanted to.
Come to think it was less time, I stopped in on Thursday filled it all out and picked it up Friday heading back to Norfolk. Came home Monday and it was in the mail box.
So it was 2-3 "working days".
Love Bedford County!
Congrats to Sheriff Mike Brown on his re-election.

I've applied in Campbell County. I hope they havea similar policy. I sure would like to have mine when I go out of town (in-state) around Xmas...

Thats pretty darn fast.
And vafish makes a good point. Why the disparity between counties, both in time and cost? I got to wondering about this last week when I read another poster talking about the cost of his VA permit ($35 I think) and after I got my NH non-res permit in the mail. My observations were:
It took me less time to get NH non-res than it did my VA permit.
NH non-res cost $20, Spotsy cost $50.
VA permit was printed in B/W on a piece of thin printer paper, then hand-laminated.
My NH non-res is like a credit/ID card, and printed in color.
Not sure where I'm going with this. Just thinking out loud.
