Alright, I ship out in about a week and while I understand that I can't bring a firearm to basic, will I be allowed to bring my firearms with me to my A-School? Not to train with of course but can I bring them along with my other possessions? I've been researching for days on end and cant find any info.

BTW my rating will be Master at Arms and as far as i'm aware, this training will take place at Lackland AFB in Texas. Anybody with any knowledge please speak up as I don't have much time to consider the issue.

If you are staying on base, you will not be able to possess your weapons. If you want to take them with you, call ahead and make arraingements to store them in the base armory.

Talk to the Base Security Officer and get the particulars.

Is this easily or normally done? Or does it have to be under special circumstances for this to happen?

It can be done but the base you are going to will determine how hard/easy it will be.

Your best source of information will be to contact the base where you will be attending "A" School. This is something you want to have set up in advance.

It's been many years since I had a handgun stored in a base armory. It wasn't any problem. I was escorted from the gate to the armory.

It might be better just to leave you handgun at home.

Good luck.
