USPSA rules for shotgun in three gun?

I was browsing the USPSA web site under the rules section and I saw a new catagory of shotgun called modified. It allows ports and compenstators on shotguns but no optics. Is this division rule new or is it a proposed rule. I am curious because at the last three gun shoot I was at I was bumped to open because I used my 14 inch vang comped 870 as my shotgun. The ports bumped me to open. This new modified catagory would be nice. But I wish they had a tactical shotgun catagory like they do with rifles. I see no problem with an optic on a shotgun.
Anyway just curious if anyone knew about this new division for three gun.
