Obviously I'm not expecting MOA accuracy out of my AK's my question to those that have owned both say a cheap ak like a wasr / sar-1 and something nicer like a vector / Arsenal, is there a difference in accuracy that would justify the extra cash? Given the same ammo, conditions, and shooter is there a large difference between a wasr and an Arsenal as far a group size?
I.E. wasr group 100yrds 6"
Arsenal group 100yrds 3.5"
?
Thanks
Jon
In my humble opinion, there is not enough difference in accuracy to justify the additional money. Those Romanians are more accurate than most people give them credit for. The extra money will get you fit and finish.
Now I still want an Arsenal milled AK, but not for accuracy reasons.

Some ammo is better, however my Aresnal is more accurate than the WASR, and my so is my MAK90, the Areanal is a milled recvr, the MAK is a 1.5mm stamped. The Romy G is a 1.0mm stamped. The, IMHO, recvr thickness helps in accuracy. Now, is it a 300 yrd moa, no. I like the think of them all as 100yrd, mom. Minute of man. I have a 30-06 for the longer work.
Any platform needs knowledge thrown at it, not cash. They all will have practical limits. The amount of money some people are putting into AKs these days is entertaining. Sad, but entertaining.
Tony Rumore from Tromix hinted around about building a MOA Saiga AK, but to my knowledge never did. If you need that level of accuracy, I would look at a different platform. Even if the gun is capable, the common and inexpensive steel ammo is probably not.
AK's are loose and reliable, not all that accurate in my experience.

Thanks for the reply's.
No I wasn't looking for that kind of accuracy out of the wasr's I was thinking about getting an arsenal or something else soon, and was wondering if I would see a marked improvement in accuracy buy spending the cash. The point being a survival rifle that could tag an obnoxious nut with a pension for picking people off in a disaster area. Not 300 yards but it would be nice to know you could hit an 8" circle at 150+- yards if need be with 1-2 shots.

Than an AK will serve you well in almost any survival situation.

an AK canmeet your needs.....I dont know if it is the gun or the ammo/caliber, but my AK74 is a more accurate then my ak47.
if you want a tighter chamber for better accuaracy, you will loose some of the feed it anything reliability.

My Arsenal seems to shoot more accurately than any WASR, or SAR for that matter I've fired. Either rifle is capable of meeting your requirements. Practice makes perfect.
As a side note, I think the psychological factor of the Arsenal shooting POA right out the box vs. the endless sight adjustment of the Romanian ( and other cheaper ) AK's makes a big difference.......
Look at ammo quality first, AK type second.
With AE and Silver Bear, my Hunter can get into the two inch range and maybe better if i had a scope or better sights...Wolf, 3-5" @ 100yrds.
