Yes well, Florida you either love it or you hate it.
My love relation has turned into a hate relation.
I moved to Ft Myers several years ago after traveling and working all over the world.
Boy it used to be great...but now I cannot wait to move.
Am going to sell up and go to Washington State, the Kitsap Peninsular to be precise.
I think more and more people are going to move out of Paradise as well.

Cyber,
What's happened to Ft. Myers in the last several years that has you wanting to up and bail? I grew up there, but didn't return once graduating from UF (a LOT of years ago). My folks still live there (46 years, now).
Nice town to grow up in, if a little on the boring side. One can only spend so much time at the beach!
Or is it FL in general?
I wish you the best of luck in WA!

Where we live in Ft Myers is growing out of itself.
My poor wife has to now drive 73 miles round trip to go to work
and that isn't funny in season.
I-75 now is going to be widened and turn into a toll road,
I could go on but but but
We have not been to the beach in years ,traffic and other stuff.
So it's time to go

I always thought that city would outgrow itself. It was the fastest growing area in the country for 20 years. Sounds like things have finally caught up.
Best of luck to you.

Ive grown up here in the Cape Coral/ Ft. Myers area since this town was small and had nothing in it. Its grown far too large for me too. I can see exactly where youre coming from. Come January i will be leaving also headed for Kentucky. Town population of 900 people! I cant wait. There isnt even a traffic light in the entire town.

We live north of Tampa. Not a tourist area, but we have our share of snowbirds. We like it pretty well. Over the last year, the illegals have slowly been taking over Wal-Mart and the Flea Markets. Time will tell, I suppose.

This area is getting just as bad. I quit working in Ft. Myers because the drive there was just getting worse every year. It used to take half an hour off-season and 45 minutes during the winter, now it takes an hour all year long.

In NW FL also, possibly all of the South.:wow:

I bought property in Tampa, Northwest Hillborough in a beautiful new neighborhood. I cant wait to get out of South Florida!!! I hate it down here. I would never leave the sunshine state for nothing. South Florida is only nice for vacationers. Good Luck cyberphobia!

Yeah I hear ya. I grew up in South Broward (Miramar) and I left almost 3 years ago. I moved up to Lake county and I love it up here. It is growing at a fast pace also but its got alot of growing before it will be like where I left from. I still go down there to visit my parents and try to talk them into moving out of Miramar. Every time I cant wait to go home. Well good luck hope you like it in Tampa.

PM me if you don't mind. I'm looking for an investment property on that side of the coast. I want something on the eastern side of I75 and would love to have something around Labelle.
As far as 73 mile round trip, I commute just under 83miles over here. Good jobs sometimes require a good hike to go to.
