I have been shooting at 10 yards.
You should put the dot right where you want the bullet to go. Not below the "target".
Nearest Indoor range is the NRA range, I shoot all sorts of distances out to 50 yards.
Outdoor range closest target stands are 25 yards so that's what I shoot at.

I have only shot at ranges three times. Once indoor and twice at outdoor ranges. I shoot at my house. Normally I shoot at 10-15 yards. Sometimes I will try from a little farther out.

dynamic from 5 to 15 yards, and slow fire at 25 and 50 if nobody's looking. :)
10 yards or less for me most of the time, out to 25 yards on occasion.

if your shooting a bit to the left try this...........usally when your shooting to the left you are using not enough finger on the triger as you squeeze the triger your pushing your muzzle to the left slightly. Try putting just a little bit more triger finger on the triger i think you will find after trying this and practice it does make a diffrence. It did for me when i was told about it. good luck.
The range shoot at has 7-10-15 .I always shoot the 7. I heard somewhere "FBI" stats say most gunfights end in 25ft or less

About 3 to 5 yards. Here check this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=LWckBC4LLek
Usually 25yds or less, depending on what type of shooting I'm doing.
Occasionally 50yds.
I find that the greater the distance, the more I am apt to concentrate like I should, which equates to better groups.
Only a few times at 100yds... Surprised me when I hit the gong with the first shot! My excitement jostled the next two shots though. I usually only fire a mag full at the gong if I'm feeling lucky... Not good enough to get consistent hits yet. (Only about 50/50 right now)

Good questions.
I know everyone likes to do it differently. I see lots of guys sending lead down range for 25 yards. That's fine and dandy. Done it myself. But When I practice/train I like to stay realistic. I'm not going to be involved in a gunfight at a distance of anywhere near 25 yards. If I'm that far away I believe I will usually be able to come up with a better plan (There are only three: Stand and fight, duck and cover, or cut and run). It would all really depend on the situation.
I practice at distances that I might expect to actually have to defend myself or someone else. Inside 10' I practice the "point and shoot" method. Not likely to have the time to aim using the sights. I also practice sight shooting at 15', 21', 30' and 45'. 45' is actually about the limit which I expect I'd ever fire my weapon in a real SHTF situation. These are the distances which get most of my time and ammo in practice/training.
All that said, I am aware of the possibility of being barricaded in somehow and having greater distances to cover. That is why I will occasionally devote a whole session to that extreme distance. But I gotta be honest here. My skills lie pretty much inside 50' When me and my eyes were younger it was different but now things are a little dim out that far. :couch:
I cover the target with the dot on the front sight. Put it where you want the round to hit.
