View Full Version : easier to conceal - G23 or G27 ???
Hi all. Well, I bought my 1st Glock about 2 weeks ago and now I see what all you crazy multiple-glock owners have been talking about. I've never really experienced this "need" to purchase additional guns with any other brand before. Anyway, here's my question. The glock I've already bought is the G21. LOVE IT. This gun is for home defense. Now I need one that is easy to conceal. Which is easier - the G23 or the G27? I've held the G23 in my hands and loved the feel, but is it really small enough to conceal effectively? Is it dramatically smaller than my G21? Thoughts?

I bought the 27 first, then several weeks later bought a 26. 27 is my always gun...I have a Concealed Carry Permit here in Pennsylvaina, and I carry 24/7 where the law alowes here. I have no problems concealing the 27. I also own a Gaurdian .380, which is highly concealable but lacks firepower of the 27(.40 Cal.) It's a personal choice what you carry...26...is house gun...easy for wife to shoot...27 is my carry gun....;f ;f ;f

I own both the 27 and the 23 but carry the 23 a lot more than 27 because I can shoot it better. The 23 is not hard to conceal.

The G23 is definitely easier handling, and conceals very well, but the G27 goes out more often, particulary in warmer weather where i may be wearing just a t-shirt. Those fractions of an inch make a world of difference to me.

Can't say how easy a 27 is to conceal, but the 23 is a breeze for me. I use a Sidearmor IWB and a cover garment. Even just wearing a t-shirt over it hides it well. I even tuck the shirt in around it. Just where the j-hooks go onto the belt is the only part of the shirt that can not tuck in.

The G27 is a hands-down better concealment unit than the G23. While both are great guns . . . one can simply drop the G27 (even containing the Pearce Grip extension)into a pants pocket (either front or back for most men - My suggestion is to use an acceptable non-obtrusive inside-the pocket holster in all instances (to shelter the trigger in order to avoid accidents which may result in an unfortunate loss of personal body parts!)) and still realize complete discretion.

G23 with a Sidearmor IWB. Works great for me. Love the 23.

Second the motion for the 27 in a pocket holster. Its my favorite way to carry and I never worry about flashing, how tight my shirt is or any of that.

I have the 22 and a 27. I carry the 22( I have a carry permit in PA) when clothing permits in the glock sport/duty holster. For everyday(and sometimes when I'm carrying the 22) I carry the 27 in a galco ankle holster. The 27 is SUB-compact and still shoots straighter than an arrow...For carryy, I recommend the 27.

As I said befor 27 is great...my main carry pistol....24/7....I'm interested in your opion of ankle carry and the rig you use....is it comfortable...secure....what kind of pants with it ...loose dress pants or jeans...jeans seem to tight at ankle for that kind of carry....

Also interested in pocket holsters for the 27...what do you use for 27? I've been trying to come up with better solutions to belt holster...or inside waistband(don't care for that one with 27)

Is that a Glock in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? ;a

The G27 gets my vote. For some strange reason I shoot that better than my G23, G19, or G26. Although my primary carry gun is teh G30.

I carried my friend's G27 for a few hours in my BladeTech IWB and I have to say that it definitely conceals better than my G23. Since I am a big guy with big hands, I prefer my G23 only because the grip size is barely enough for my hands. So to answer your question, I think the G27 is easier to conceal, but my G23 disappears just fine under my cover garments.

G-27 in a Galco SOB holster works for me.

I have a 27 and my buddy has a 23. I can wear my 27 without printing in situations where his 23 has to be locked away in the safe

Glockguy,
You must be a fairly large guy...
I'm 165lbs and 5'-9"...
If I drop my G-27 in any of my pockets it shows big time...
I have to carry it in a small "hiking pouch"
on my belt, if I don't have a cover jacket or shirt.
Thanks,

I carry my G27 in a pocket holster. The only other holster I have is an open carry paddle that I use for hunting. I actually like the pocket holster better. I have an inexpensive Uncle Mike's soft pocket holster. Draws easy. There is a non slip grip along the holster so it stays in your pocket when you draw. My pants are a little loose fitting usually. I will admit I can't carry it like that in jeans. I highly recommend you try out the pocket holster for the G27. I mean you can't beat $8.00. It also beats having to untuck your shirt and tuck in back in if you happen to go somewhere you can't carry.
I've carried both and there is no question that a 27 is easier to conceal. But I have no problem at all concealing a 23.
The 27 is what I usually carry.
If I don't take the 27, it's the 29, which I feel is easier for me to conceal than the 19/23. It's a little thicker, but for me, grip height is the most important measurement when it comes to concealment.

I carry both and they both conceal easily. The edge goes to the G27 for all day comfort because it weighs a bit less. - Lee

The G23 is definitely smaller than the G21. My G23, in a Sparks SS2, is so easy to carry that I usually leave my G27 in the safe. If you want a .45, take a look at the G30. Best.
The G27 is much better for conceal carry. I carry my G33 in a Fobus ankle holster. After the first 10 minutes, I don't even know its there.
