As the title states I have sold a pistol out of state and was wondering about shipping options. The buyer is sending a ffl copy from dealer in his area. I will be shipping it to the dealer. Fed ex ,UPS or postal service? I was told by someone if it is going to a ffl I can send it myself, true? Thanks for any info.
If you know of a business that gets daily UPS or FedEx pickups and they are a friend of yours you can have them ship it out next day. UPS It will cost twice as much as FedEx.
If you go to a terminal you will have to tell them it is a firearm so I have been told. I have shipped a few both ways but always next day shipping. Some FFL's will ship them for you for a small fee plus the cost of shipping.
Find a dealer in your area and make some calls.

Sometimes its simply cheaper to have an FFL ship it for you, because they can use the USPS.
As for the common carriers, you don't have to tell them the package contains a gun, but if discovered, you likely won't be able to claim the insurance.
