What are everyone's thoughts on us taxpayers every year paying to replace sand from storms on our beaches? I don't mind on public beaches but I feel those who build on the beach should pay their own.

Tourists who use the beaches and everything around them pay your taxes. Console yourself with the thought and also that Florida is one of the few states left that doesnt have an Income tax.

We would always have beaches, even without all the money spent on restoration - just they would shift, as they have done for thousands of years. If the houses, restaurants, roads, hotels, etc. were built further back the beaches would be more beautiful, accessible, and enjoyable for all users. Yes, we are all paying to help maintain the lifestyle of the wealthy who can afford to live right on the water’s edge. I don’t buy the argument that tourism would suffer if we didn’t pay the money to try to keep the beaches from shifting - I think there would be MORE torrists enjoying our more natural, open beaches, although they might have to walk a few hundred yards from their rooms to the water, (or drive to the waterfront parking lots).
let mother nature fix it..................the more we do, the more we screw it up. As far as shoring up the condos that might fall in, too bad, so sad, love dad, let the condo peeps pay for that....they should not be there. Those things are called barrier islands for a reason
I honeymooned in St. Augustine some time ago. My wife and I went to one of the state park beaches. Man was it beautiful. We had to walk forever to get to the beach but once we got there it was great. I looked down the beach north and south and I did not see a single building! This beach did not have any erosion problems....go figure.

Nice... where was that beach front you went to exactly? I'm going to have to let my realtor know

It's a state park so your realtor might have problems getting the land ;)
