View Full Version : Someone familiar with Trader Jerry's or Roanoke Firearms
I am in the hunt for a new sling for my work shotgun. I had a single point and found that the receiver endplate wasn't going to be a good thing for me. I am thinking of going with a Vickers sling and I was curious if any of you would know if one of these would be in stock at either of these two establishments, or if you know of a place in the area that would. I would like to look before I buy and the internet won't allow it.
I've not seen slings on Trader Jerry's tables here in Richmond at the gun shows, but then, I wasn't looking.
Didn't a new big box sporting goods store open in Roanoke?
Well, duh, I could've look down a thread or two... Sportsman's Warehouse...
They do not have an online catalogue...
Know nothing of Roanoke Firearms.
Hey Bullman,
The short answer is probably 'no.' I haven't been in either store for many weeks, but I've -never- seen any "tactical" specific slings in either place... and certainly not a Vickers of any ilk. RFA stocks a few main-stream throw-ons, but nothing that I've seen to fit your ticket. Jerry's is not big on accessories, I don't think I've seen any slings in his store.
Sportsman's Warehouse, I cannot vouch either way. Haven't been by there yet though. However, it's probably safe to assume that it stocks slings catered more toward the hunter, not the tactician.
There is Bryansteens on Peters Creek. They have a lot of accessories in stock. However, I think theirs are mostly commerical sorts too, UMikes and the like. Doubtful there's any Vicker's quality on their racks.
You could call them and check:
RFA- 540 366 9707
TJ's- 540 389 8095
SW- 540 366 9700
Bry- 540 562 4867
I think probably your best option is on-line, especially for a Vickers. RM Tactical also has some SG slings IIRC.
Let me know what you find as I'm also looking for a sling for my 870P. The butt-stock does not have a swivel attachment, so I'll probably need a slip-over... unsteady about drilling the synthetic stock to place a mount.
Keep safe Bro,
Truck
Well, thought it was worth a try anyway. I might give them a call.

Bullman,
I put one of these ( http://nctactical.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=256 )on my 870 and it kicks tail. Its a 3 point and at $27 you cant beat it. I do suggest a GG&G front sling mount. I have mounted it on a cap type sling swivel and it makes the gun cant a little with carrying it. So I contacted the guy that runs western carolina to see if he would bring some to the next salem show. He is very knowledgeable about this stuff and will help you out if you wait for the show. Hope this helps and if anything I am sure Aaron can order a Vickers for you but it would be quicker to get it off the internet.
