Maybe not a Slim Frame, but Gen 4 frames seem like they will have an ambidex. mag release.

Crud, I need to buy up some old mags. I'm thinking the Ambi theory is right. If Glock is going slim frame, they will go with a single stack mag.
i'm left-handed, so is it wrong for me to appreciate an ambidextrous mag release??

Yes... extremely wrong!!! :tongueout:
heh
anyway I'm not sure how you can tell what a possible modification to a gun will be by looking at a slightly different magazine
I think they may be just getting ready to offer the ambi mag release for our lefty shooters since the new M & P is capable of this switching the mag release. I highly doubt a slim frame 19/23 is in the works. They would be better served by coming out with a single stack 9/40 gun before chopping off the back of the best frame of all Glocks (the compacts).
cool
in for G26 with ambi mag release

lol silly, not a slim frame, but a G19A (ambidextrous) is more likely in the works.

Anyone seen these yet.
My guess is you see the 9mm and .40 ambi's at the shot show in January.

You are probably right, but I think it's odd--I'm left handed and have a harder time manipulating the mag release when shooting right handed (the way it was designed to be manipulated) than I do just hitting the mag release with my trigger finger (when shooting left handed). In other words, an ambi mag release would be as useless (for me) as the proverbial **** on a boar hog.
i'm left-handed, so is it wrong for me to appreciate an ambidextrous mag release??
Being left handed should disqualify people from owning handguns. Statistics show these people are unsafe.
The S in SF stands for short, not slim. Just fyi.

Yes. As a fellow lefty, I plan to shave the mag release off the right side of the frame if I buy an SF that has one.
Release the magazine with your trigger finger, or roll your ring finger up the grip. To drop the slide, simply depress an extended slide stop with your trigger finger.
I would never buy a pistol with controls on the same side as my thumbs. Those poor right-handed guys are stuck finding a grip that keeps their thumbs off the levers, instead of one that allows the sight to track smoothly in high-speed competition stages with nice, close targets. :)

Those mags have been out for over a month, those are what all 6 of my G19 mags look like.

SF = Short Frame.
If they were, for some reason, to offer a G19 slimline, your doublestack mags would not work in it.

That's "Short Frame", but you're right. I can't see a shorter frame than already exists for a G19, but I believe they will be offering ambi mag releases on all models soon.

As a lefty I agree 100%.

I believe offering initially. But later probably only ambi mag release glock will be available. It is expensive to carry both types in stock and what is the sense if the ambi will still permit the left side release of the current model.
Personally, I tend to think that the Ambi catch G21SF's aren't selling as well as the SF with the standard mag catch, which most folks around here seem to be looking for.

If that's accurate, I would hope that Glock would NOT change the product line to the Ambi catch!
If anything, I would rather they make the Ambi catch an OPTION, like they currently are on the G21SF's.

I might be wrong, but if you look at the magazine, the groove that the magazine catch uses to hold it, is still in the right place. The rectangle in the middle that appears on the picture, is actually higher up, discualifying the possibility of being an ambi magazine catch groove. To me, it looks more like a way to visualize easier whether is a steel lining mag or a plastic mag.:whistling:

I talked to a Glock rep at the NRA Convention in Louisville today and he said he thinks that Glock most likely will not continue offering the ambi safety models. He said they aren't popular with the law enforecement officers so far and that it was originally done as part of working towards a gun for a military contract but that's been put off for now.

Upping 6 month old threads should disqualify people from owning handguns.

Clearly for ambi...not sf...what's the point of shortening the compact??? nothing. It's already short.

I promise, it's for the ambi mag catch. The mag will work with both styles of mag catch.

Ya know, I asked about these mags in another thread and I now dont see how they are ambi-release mags since the release wouldnt be lined up with that metal tab, unless Glock changed the entire mag release function and location. Does anybody have an ambi-release gun yet?

Yes. Ambi mag catches are completely different than standard catches. the mags will work in both systems.

so what it really means slim... just like my 19c is compensated but its actually ported not compensated...:tongueout:

It's short frame, not slim frame. The stock controls work great for lefthanders, but I do see all models going ambidextrous down the road. The 19 is already a short frame, so I would be suprised to see a change there.

Well, if it you saying it Butch, I take your word for it. I just can't see how can the mag release be worked out if it will end up right behind the trigger.:dunno:
so what it really means slim... just like my 19c is compensated but its actually ported not compensated...:tongueout::upeyes: Slim implies a change in width of the grip. They changed the front to back length, which is what short implies.
Correct!

Ah! Well there ya go. Im not clear how it works but that does line up with the new notch on the mag.
