Right Gun Belt

My son is getting into steel challenge again. He is 14, He is now moving from a .22 to a Glock 17. I have set up of Uncle Mikes Kydex belt holster and mag pouches.

I would like to get the CR speed belt but need to know if they will fit the holsters.
I am using an instructors belt but I think the 2 belt sytem would work better for him

anyone out there using this setup?

Should fit, it'll be snug but that is a good thing. Get the belt 2 sizes larger than a normal belt.

I've used a CR Speed belt and UM holster quite a bit.

I was using the forbus but like the Uncle Mike's angle and height better.


It looks like I will end up with 2 setups for me and one for my son.

A G17 setup for my son , A G31 setup and a G20 setup for me

Thanks for the info on your set Flexmoney. that puts my mind to ease about ordering the belts. I have the holsters now and the G17/31 mag pouches However I haven't seen any double mag pouches for the G20 magazines.

I know I have some G20 double pouches from Fobus. I think I have some from other makers. They are out there. (At our local Steel Challenge match we have a table next to the shooting position that the shooters can use for their mags, if needed.)

Are you shoting a division on Steel Challenge that is stock gear specific? (Like an "IDPA" gear division?)

The reason I ask is because Steel Challenge requires so many draws per match. If you are in with the race-holsters, then you will be at a bit of a disadvantage. I'm good with using the basic/cheap (Fobus, Uncle Mikes, etc) for the other gun games...they don't have as many pure draws in a match. For Steel challenge, however, you may be giving up 2-5 seconds per match by going with a non-race holster.

The places you are looking may just be listing them as for the 21, but they will work.

I have mostly been in the Limited 10 / IDPA with a G20 ,a forbus dual mag holster, Forbus belt holster and an Instructors belt. I'm a 10mm fan

However with my son now moving from .22 to the 9mm he needs to get used to a holster setup. I have decided to get the CR speed belt for him and me since the system is a big step up from the Instructors belt.
He likes using a Red Dot and the CR holster will allow that option later but I want him to learn the basics first and iron sight shooting . If he sticks with it I will invest in the CR holster and pouches.
I wasn't happy with the Forbus. I have seen alot of the other shooters using the UM, so I bought one in G20 for me. I like the higher profile and draw of it . I purchased a setup for my son (G17 holster and dual magpouch) for a starter setup for him to learn on.
I have the same setup now for my G31 but am looking to duplicate it for the larger frame of the G20. I have the Forbus G20 mag pouches still but would like the UM if I can get them.
when I go the matches, I'm not big on getting great times as much as working on target and draws and somewhat constant times. I am a retired LEO and like to play for myself and skill vs best times and ranking.( For now that is Later on who knows......)
