I've seen numerous tests were the G17 has been subjected to hundereds of thousands of rounds and many other torture tests. Has the G22 ever been subjected to anything similar?

The fact that no one has responded to this thread makes me think that there really hasn't been exhaustive research done on torture tests of the Glock models other than the G17. Which is really kind of interesting. Does this mean that we tend to extend, to the other Glock models, this notion that they are somehow the most indestructable pistols around? I don't know for sure, but I do know that trying to compare the durability of a G17 to the other Glock models, particularly ones other than 9MM, is by no means scientific. And clearly not apples to apples. The argument that so many law enforcement agencies have adopted the G22 or the G23 or the G21, et al, doesn't really hold, because generally law enforcement, as a whole, doesn't regularly shoot their weapons. They get carried a lot, and show a lot wear, but that doesn't mean that they get shot a lot. Anyway, my point is, the fact that LEO are buying these other Glock models doesn't mean that they are anywhere near as indestructable as the G17. And therefore just because the G17 has been shown to survive the rigourous digestion of up to a million rounds (I don't know if that's really true or not, I've just heard it), it doesn't mean the other models are anywhere near that durable.

My G22 broke 2 weekends ago at around the 4,600 round mark. I have a thread going:

I am a little disappointed in my G22. My G19 has gone over double the amount of rounds and has never let me down. I am sending my G22 off to Glock USA, but I must admit, I have lost confidence in it. I shoot all my pistols and rifles alot, and always maintain them and keep them extra clean. Bottom line...my G22 failed me when it should not have. Just my .02:(

I recently met a gunsmith who repaired a g22. after some 40.000 rounds. All he did was ghange the barrel.

This is my understanding prior to buying my G22:

Federal agencies have exhaustive testing and field use (LEOs do shoot alot at the range). Some have had tens of thousands (40,000 plus) of rounds prior to acceptance as a carry weapon. They didn’t change any barrels either.

As additional info, NOT ONE did a ka-boom, which has been the net-legend of choice for the .40sw. Most that have happened can be, apparently, chocked up to bad reloads, lead, or very poor maintenance/handling or even pranks.

I have not heard that Glock did the "torture test" (buried in sand, mud, left in a creek, driven over, frozen in ice for 60 days)specific to the .40sw – however, almost the entire pistol is the same as the 17 so the .40sw would probably act the same in these respects.

I understand only the 17 can be fitted for "underwater" shooting. (anyone???)
