My 10 year old Milt Sparks belt is getting a bit haggard after 3650+ days of continuous use. I love it, but don't want to wait 6 moths for another and $100 seems a bit excessive for a belt.
I stumbled on to the Blackhawk CQC Pistol Belt the other day:

Has anyone seen/used one? Are they worth a damn?
Any other suggestions for a 1.25" general purpose belt?
Thanks,
Koski

I use and highly reccomend a a Wilderness Instructor's Belt, it's the best $40 i've ever spent. Don't let anyone tell you that you need to get the 5 stitch model, I have 2 of the 3 stitch models and carry a SIG 229 and 1 reload everyday with no problems or discomfort.

A belt that looks like a duffel bag handle doesn't quite cut it. It has to look "respectable." I'd rather not switch belts around when going to meet with customers, etc.

The Belt Man makes some pretty nice stuff. I don't personally own one, but my buddy does, and it seems really nice. His has the internal stiffener, which makes it a pretty nice and sturdy gun belt.
It is approaching 100$ though once you get the stiffener and shipping, etc. And I'm pretty sure that wait time is something around a month.

Good to know. I could fork out that kind of money if I only had to wait a few weeks.

I didn't realize you wanted leather, if so then I agree with naffiner, the beltman is top notch. Mine took 3 weeks to get and was well worth it.

You got 10 years use out of a belt and $100 is too much to pay? :whistling:
Cry once and get another Sparks. It already served you well for the past ten years. Call Tony and get it over with.

I also prefer the wilderness line. I have a Galco leather belt that was very nicely priced and arrived quickly.
+1 on Beltman. Makes a very nice belt!
I've been using a Wilderness belt for matches and everyday use for about 4 years now and really like it, however, I kind of feel the same as you do about the whole nylon belt thing. I've been contemplating the Liger Belt (http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=16) It's just another option I thought I'd throw out there. If anyone has tried it please post your opinions.

+2 Beltman makes a good belt
Steve,
Have you looked at Topgun or LAsports for the Milt in stock?
Other options include:
Filson "Double Belt"
I like the Filson. It looks very good and is super thick. The only problem is that it's double thick all the way through, even at the buckle end which can make it a little bulky depending on your attire.
They are always in stock though and you could return it if not satisfied.
I think they go for around $50-60 IIRC but I got mine on sale for $38
The sizing is a bit different than how most of the gun belts are measured so you might need to try one for yourself.
I no longer have one so I can't remember how their sizing relates to Milt's.
The Beltman belts are okay too.
I only have the "bullhide" model which is their econo-line but it has proven to be a very durable belt and it's very lightweight for leather.

J.P.:
Your Bullhide belt from Beltman isn't super thick is it? Some of these "gun belts" are ridiculously thick.

That's what I ended up doing. Marty took my order.
If I wasn't so damned pleased with my first Milt Sparks belt, I probably wouldn't do it again at $82.50 + $11.00 shipping. But hey, i've been wearing it for almost 11 years now. I guess that speaks pretty highly of it.
Is that leather?
I don't think it is leather. From what I could gather, it's supposed to have the feel of leather, but it's synthetic.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, so I will. At the gunstore last month I saw what appeared to be a very nicely made leather stitched gun belt made by 5.11.
I use their version of the Wilderness belt. I'm thinking of picking up one of these, and they're priced at $34.95 but easily feel and look like the $100 leather gun belts. Seems very well made, robust and very stiff.

It's on my Xmas list this year.

My, my, my. It would seem $10.00 a year for a belt that is worn everyday for 10 yrs would be a great bargin, even for a dyed in the wool CRB. Why, oh why didn't you order a replacement 6 months ago?
I only have experience with the duffle bag belt so I can't really help, so I'll agree with Hozer.

Nope.
It is thinner than the Milt Sparks (which has trouble threading through some Kydex)
I usually wear the Bullhide for gaming and the sparks for EDC.
Sounds like you did the right thing though in ordering another sparks.
Steve,
Too late now but I have a Don Hume double thickness 1.25 belt that I bought from Gunners Alley about 5 years ago. It looks dressy enough for most situations. I also have a Wilderness 1.25 5-stitch ring belt that I use just at the range.
