View Full Version : how do you CCW your 36?
Well I am getting down to the wire on what I am going to purchase. One thing that I am wondering is how you guys carry your 36. I have noticed in a few other threads people using comp-tacs.. (I have one for my 23 and love it). I was wondering what other options people have used. As always thanks for the response.
IWB with a Nassar holster by UBG Holsters.
www.ubgholsters.com
looks good thanks for the response...
Please read this Sludge! I have a c-tac for my glock 19 which is the very same size as your glock 23 and my glock 36 fits the c-tac for my 19 like a glove i use same holster for both and love it. OWB carry i use a galco leather quick slide and again the same holster fits it perfact! SO...... just about every holster i think that will fit your 23 will fit your glock 36 and by the way i love my 36 works perfact and very accurate and easier to conceal a bit more than my 19 or a 23, just make sure you carry another mag. 6+1 is what the 36 holds. If you get the 36 go to lone wolf and get the Pearce +0 grip extensiions you will love the gun even more and it does not add any length but makes it feel even better and lone wolf ships them reg US mail like for $3 others want $10 or more for shipping for a $8 part.
heres the +0 extension for the glock 36
http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=4568
I have pictures of my 36 and c-tac on another post if you like. the c-tac is the best IWB holster iver ever used.
Hope this helps.
Sludge Please check your PM box sent you some information.
thanks
The Pearce +1 extension i have on one mag it does extend the length about a half inch to the grip. So far it has worked well feeding in my glock 36 but some have noted that the +1 extension they have had problems feeding so in my book at the range the +1 would be ok but to carry I prefer the Pearce +0 extension along with many others really like the way they feel and inproves the way the 36 handlesand especially the way it makes it conceal better. Hears a pic of my 36 with the +0 extension. unless you can find them localy order the Pearce extensions from Lone Wolf as the link i gave in the other post the shipping is alot cheaper and good folks to deal with. the Pearce +0 extension for the Glock 36 number is PG360. PM me if you need anymore info. as far as the 36 goes mine has shot anything ive put through it with no problems at all including junk ammo (never use lead bullets in a glock!)and the good stuff like Winchester SXT 230 gr JHP which i use for carry ammo. Hope all my book i just wrote helps.
another little item you all might be interested in is this: a lockable storage (safe or box) for your car or truck for those places you cannot leagly carry into. Not 100% snach proof but its a good idea and would make the BG work alittle harder. this goes under the seat or anywhere else you would like and its TSA approved for air travle if disired. I got one and love it for what it is and very low cost. and from cabela's its cheaper total for me in Indiana was $36 total for shipping and everything and got it in 2 days from order. some have told me to put the male end of velcro on bottom to keep from sliding from under seat. and also if you get one GET THE LARGE SIZE NO MATTER WHAT HANDGUN YOU GOT you wont be sorry the standard size is small. I got the large. heres the link.

Your G36 will fit in the Ctac for the G19/23..I am currently using a Ctac G1 slide. It was made for all the 9mm/40/.357 model so if you get one of those you have a holster that will fit just about all of them.I do have a Ctac ordered specifically for the G36,I received it a few days ago and it didnt fit, sent it back and hopefully I'll have the right one soon..If not the G1 is really a perfect fit....the only reason I oreded one for the G36 is my buddy wanted my slide for his G23 and I said I'd sell it to him.:)

I use a Galco USA IWB for deep concealment. A Blade Tech IWB rides a bit higher and I have to be more careful what I wear when using it. So far only a Fobus OWB.
The trigger guard on a 36 is slightly wider than on a 19/23 so not ALL 19/23 holsters will fit a 36. I have a Safariland for the 19/23 that will NOT fit a 36.
The Galco and Blade Tech above do fit the 19/23 and 36.

Almost sounds like you have been reading a few of my posts. :wavey:
I too think the Pearce +0 is a huge improvement and use it on the mag in the gun.
The +1 I use as a back up mag. To ally your fears you might try the Wolff +10% mag spring as I did. The mag works great.
Did you miss the part where I talk about adding Decal Grip and that's it?
BTW, DO NOT try installing an extended slide stop. They will screw up your gun.
Enjoy your 36. Mine has run great since 2000.
I'm seriously considering the DeSantis Sky Cop. It's a cross draw. There's some pros and cons with a cross draw, but in my opinion, it's easier to get to, especially with your arms crossed or while sitting in a car. An IWB holster is just too uncomfortable for a 36, for me. I occasionally carry a Sig P230 IWB.

I have a +1 pearce extension and so far its worked great but for my body and hands it doesnt feel as good as the +0 and does not conceal quite as well, but have had no problems with it my self. The pearce +0 just feels like its made for the 36. as for as the decal grip i have shot glocks with them and for me just dont feel good. and yes i agree with you and did some research the extended slide stop is a no no for the 36. I called glock and they told me the same thing. thanks for the reply.

I was carrying my 27 in a Ctac Slide model because I had another larger frame Glock at the time as well.
Anyways, when I got my 36 I found that it fit my ctac like a glove just like my 27 did. No need to get a new holster. So I guess 36 fits the same shape as any 9/40/357 model
Been very happy with my ctac now for idunno 2 years? Only thing is I recently had one clip break and had to buy a new one for 15 bucks. I've never had the urge to try any other holster yet.
I ordered the +1 extension, we will see how they work. One thing I can not stand is the standard glock slide release. I have been using a extended one on my 23 since day 1 with 0 problems. I wish they had a fix for them...
I ordered the gun yesterday.... total with le discount was $564 thats with trijicon night sights added as well. I should have it in 5-7 working days....(photos to come)
Sludge,
I hope you ordered a Pearce +0 extension also once you have used this +0 extension you wont take it of that glock 36. Where did you order the pearce extensions from? Like i said earler Lone Wolf has best shipping unless you found another better deal. Anyway you will like the 36 with these options let us know how you like it and we need PICS. great choice!

Been using one for a couple months now. I spend a lot of time seated in a car. Very concealable under a sweater or loose shirt. Well made. No complaints at all for the 36 in the Sky Cop holster

Did you also get a +1 spring for that extension? I looked at them and they didnt seem to come with one.

P.S. What sealed the deal was that I did not know Pearce made +0 extensions for the G36 and they look great in the pics!
Another $464.00 poorer....
and they feel even better than they look!

Carry mine in a milt sparks executive companion. Best holster out there imho.,even tough you will have a nine month wait.
Just today got home from a all day christmas shoping trip, wow did i pick the wrong day to agree to go shopping with the wife way to many people, anyway carried the glock 36 in a c-tac and forgot it was even there very confortable. under my leather jacket it was well hid and of course had spare mag in inside pocket where i could get to it easy. the 36 was made to carry in my opion. c-tac very confortable.
As I have stated in other forums and other threads. I believe that variety is the spice of life in CCW as well as other aspects of life. Different weathers, different activities, different requirements in dress, etc require a flexible assortment of holsters to accomodate every need. Also, lets face it, Sometimes it's fun just to change up because you want a chance of pace, right?
Here is my IWB rig. Bianchi leather model 100 size 11

Here's my OWB rig. FIST INC leather custom #8 closecroped shortcut with Fobus double mag paddle
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/3338/gun13ou2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
and here's my shoulder holster. FIST INC custom leather #70 vertical carry. w/ double mag pouch. No anchor strap. No thumb break. Easy one handed draw and reholster.
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/3300/gun11fh5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Damn Jack... that shoulder rig is just sexy:wow:
Got my glock 36 in on Friday, worked yesterday, when my wife gets home from work later with the camera, I will put some pictures of it up...
I ended up with a total of 8 mags (I am a firm believer in extra mags). I plan on carrying 2 extra mags (+1 extension) in my fobus rig, 6 mags have the +1 ext, and the other 2 have +0 (they both feel awesome) the +0 seems to conceal a little bit easier and will be whats in the gun when I carry.
My Comp-tac works with my 36, problem I have is my wife has fallen in love with my glock 23 and has put the five finger discount on it and my comp-tac (Cant get angry with a woman that carries on her hip now can you). I am going to have to order another comp tac in the near future.
Sludge wow now i tell you about the 36 in the 23 c-tac and your wife steels the show and the gun and the holster! oh well that dont make her all bad, heck this may even help you aquire more glocks and shootin stuff. Nice work now if i could just get my wife to like shooting and this cool stuff.
ps
HOW DID YOU DO THAT? shes a keeper
Beet to make a long story short, on our first date she was carded for buying a beer with her dinner (another plus) and I noticed her CHL card under her drivers license... well the rest was history.
I think it was all apart of her evil plan though, she has liked my glock 23 since day one. She loves the way it feels, shoots, everything about it. She carried a S&W 908 for a long time, but wanted to move up to the 40 cal round. So when I started talking glock 36, she hatched her evil plan. “ Oh yes baby, I think you should get that glock. The 45 is such a manly round”.. or “you deserve it honey, go get that gun if you want it”. Then it turned into.
Her: What are you going to do with your first glock??.
Me: I dunno… keep it locked up; take it to the range every now and then
Her: leaving, then coming back into t room with the glock 23 on her hip in my comp-tac “do you like the way this makes my hips look???”
Me: UH HUUUUU…:wow::wow:
The rest is history.

Sludge is my hero!
Back when I had my G27 it came with two extended mags +1 floorplates pearce I think. First range trip I had failure to feed of the last round in them. So once I figured out what the deal was I ordered the 10% extra power springs with a bunch of other goodies for it from GlockMeister. Worked fine with the new spring.

..and of course had spare mag in inside pocket where i could get to it easy. .
Just a suggestion. Get a mag pouch. Ever take a look at the lint your gun picks from being carried concealed? The mag will pick it up too.
A pouch will help keep the crap out of the mag and you will know where it is and in what orientation at all times.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
I got a mag pouch for it but put it in my pocket telling my self i would get the pouch before we left, had phone call while getting things together, and forgot to get the pouch now the spare mag for carrying is ready to go beside my c-tac i wont forget it again. this getting older ya know there are a few things that tend to happen sometimes.

In a Comp-Tac infidel, 5 o'clock on the hip, if I need a tuckable option, I use an ankle holster. That little bugger disappears so easily!

I carry my 36 in a Don Hume P.C.C.H. and also have a fanny pack for it from gungear.com (http://www.gungear.com/cgi-bin/ez-catalog/cat_display.cgi?3X300536). Both are comfortable but the Don Hume rides a little high. I'm looking at a Comp-Tac Infidel or C-Tac, although an M-Tac would be nice, too. The fanny pack is cordura and comes in multiple colors not just "tactical black". It really looks like an ordinary fanny pack. It's also very quick to draw from.
I have Pearce +1 extensions for my mags, however when I carry in the Don Hume I use the standard magazines as they're easier to conceal.
Mine's in a Cross Breed tuckable.
The Pearce +1 doesn't conceal as well with this holster in "tucked mode" (it doesn't push the end of the magazine into my flab enough!) as with the stock magazine, but it disappears with a cover garment.
Nice holster that shipped and arrived pretty quickly.
