How do you get the 10'th round in the magazine and then load it and make it feed properly? I am going to call GLOCK and see what they say...

I haven't had a 30 for several years, but I do remember that trying to load the 10th round in its mags was a pain. I never tried to load 10 in the mag and one in the chamber though, if that is what you are suggesting. I think I loaded my w/ 9 and let them set for a while and eventually I was able to get 10 in and later w/o much difficulty.

I didn't trade the 30 because of the mags but because it was just a little too fat for my hands. My 30 was the sofest shooting, most accurate .45ACP I have ever shot. Hang in there. It will all work out. - 'ole joe

It's harder for me to get the 10th round in the mag than the 9th, but even harder is getting the mag in the gun. Also, pulling the slide back and letting it go forward to chamber the 1st outta ten rounds is harder for me. If there's 9 in the mag, it goes in the gun easily, and pulling the slide back is a piece of cake, but getting the 10th in the mag, getting the mag w/ 10 in the gun, and racking the slide is hard. Hopefully it'll get easier once the gun's been used more.

Before you load the full mag. into the gun, lock the slide back, insert the mag., then drop the slide.

The last round in a new G30 magazine is without a doubt the most difficult "last round insertion" of any gun I've ever shot.

My advice:

Load 9 rounds

Unload the 9 rounds

Repeat 500X

Load 10 rounds

Unload the 10 rounds

Repeat 500X

Geez, and I thought it was hard with my 27. Not necessarily to get the round in the mag, but to get the mag in the damn gun

I got it after a few tries with the Pearce +1 on my G27

yeah it's a bit annoying at first, but I'd rather deal with this issue than the 10,000 issues my beretta 9000 has.

In the Glock world this is not unusual. As the mag breaks in, you can get the final round in. As mentioned, the larger problem is it's very hard to get the fully loaded mag back into the gun. It's easy enough to only put the mag in on a locked back slide... at the range and under no stress. If you use the gun for carry or HD, any reload (under the stress of a gunfight) except for one with slide lock is likely to not latch into the gun and suddenly you have a single shot.

On my 30 I load the mag with 9 rounds, cycle the slide (or drop it if locked back), drop the mag and put the 9th round back in. Makes life and reloads much much easier and I am still working with 10 rounds. Back up mags are stoked with 9 rounds for reliablity of reloads under stress. Same thing is true for the 21.

My G21 mags are the same. I take a fat sized punch and press the magazine follower (when empty) down all the way, release and repeat about 50 times per mag. Do it while watching a movie and when you're done, the mags will let you get the last bullet in easier.

When you're loading the gun, lock the slide back as already mentioned above, insert mag, drop slide, eject mag and top it off so that you have 10+1.

Practice tactical reloading and SMACK the magazine home with the heel of your palm so that you're ready if you ever HAVE to do it under stress.

As you load the last few rounds, push the bullet nose down with your thumb at the same time as you are pushing down with the Glock loader. For the tenth round push the loader down all the way while pushing firmly down on the ninth round nose. Release the nose of the ninth round without letting up on the loader. Press the tenth round in firmly and force it under the top lip of the loader. Pushing backwards on the round, slowly let up on the loader and it will load.

I load all my clips to ten rounds, for range purposes, because the slide wil be rearward from finishing the prior clip. As a spare carry clip load only nine rounds for the eventuallity of wanting to topoff the weapon in the middle of an actual defense situation.

From a practical point of view the G30 is a 9+1 weapon. You soon hear from a faction of the members that believe in hammering in a clip with 10 rounds and have been doing so forever.

Note - There are some Glock clips that permit filling to stated capacity and still be able to be inserted in the weapon with reasonable effort. One contributor, who was beat soundly about the head and shoulders by some members, had a neat idea. If after loading to stated capacity you can press on the top round a add 1/2 round more; you may have the right combination.

Everyone...Thank you for your help. I have tried many of the tricks that have been mentioned.
I was looking for something that I might have missed. I like this model and I will get the mags to function properly. I will keep you posted. Once again, thank you for your help.

With 9 rounds in the mag, use your right hand to grip the mag, with your trigger finger, place it on top of the mag, holding parallel, and on top of the 9th round. then slap the bottom of the magazine twice into the palm of your left hand, which seats/settles the nine rounds perfectly in the magazine. Then with some force, getting the tenth round in the mag is possible.

To load a mag with ten rounds into a G30 with the slide closed, simply hold the gun muzzle away from you with the top of the slide in the palm of your right hand. Insert mag, and press firmly with the palm of your left hand. Whoa la! Works every time.

Now assuming it will be your carry gun, and if you decide to use the 10 round G30 mag as your spare, and you find yourself having to use it someday, when you have expelled the first magazine full, and have to go to the second mag, the slide will be open and insertion is very easy and smooth. Then simply hitting the slide release lever is all that's needed to fire the next string of ten. Hope this helps!

Load the mags and leave them that way for a week. After that they should be a little easier to load.

+1 here.. altho, it took mine about 3wks until I realised the one magazine that I had left in the gun itself only took a week (it kinda made that 9.5rnds squish the previous poster commented about). Needless to say, a week in the gun made the rest of the mags go quicker...!

So, yeah, patience. :)

This is exactly the method I use. Hurts like hell, and sometimes there is a smidgen of blood in the aftermath, but the 10th will go in........

Unless you are plagued with "girlie" thumbs, then there is little hope.....

I don't know about "UNIVERSAL" but the "UPLULA UNIVERSAL MAGAZINE LOADER" works great and easily gets 10 rounds into all five of my G30 mags, two new OEM mags that came with the Glock and three aftermarket Glock OEM.
Available from Brownells and many other stores at $30-$35.

I just got my 9th GLOCK. While I've had to push hard, I've never been unable to load a mag to capacity.

And if you can't rack the slide with a fully loaded mag in the gun, you're doing it wrong.

Grip the gun as usual with your dominant hand.
Place your non-dominant hand on the back half of the slide, and hold firmly but not tight.
Push the frame forward with your dominant hand, hard and fast.
While pushing forward with your dominant hand, allow your non-dominant hand to slip off the back of the slide.
Done.

While I was trying out my G30 at the range the other day, laboring to load that 10th round in the 10 round mags for the G30, I found it's actually pretty simple to put a bullet on the edge of a bench and press it into the mag by shoving the mag into the bullet, and it loads it pretty simply after that initial push, by just pushing it the rest of the way in by moving the magazine you're holding with your other hand (you have to hold the bullet with the other hand, of course).

I also got a FTF when I tried to load a full mag using the slide release. Reloaded the 10th round, yanked the slide all the way back like you're supposed to, and let go, and it loaded fine.

Lesson learned! Do not use slide release to load rounds unless you absolutely have to!

I think it is a combination of pain, adrenalin and martial arts.

Thats what gets the last/10th round into a Glock 30 magazine.

Here's a curious thing: I recently bought a G20 and found the 15th round very hard to load in the two mags that came with it. I ordered a few more mags from Midway and when they arrived I grabbed a bunch of ammo to load them to capacity and "break in" the springs. Surprisingly, all of them were much easier to load than the ones that came with the gun. I didn't measure the spring weights or anything like that but my educated thumb says that the new mags were as easy to load as soon as I got them as the "factory" mags were after sitting loaded for two weeks.

When I first purchased my 30, I too experienced difficulty loading the 10 rnd. I marked one of the 5 mags that I had and experimented shortening the spring. I wouldn't recomend doing this as now all of my other mags are much easier to load after the springs broke in. I would however recomend buying a uplula mag loader http://maglula.tripod.com/uplula.htm.
It allows you to apply more force without breaking your thumbs....

What's worse than trying to get the 10th round into a 10-round G30 magazine? Trying to get the 9th round in a 9-round G30 magazine.
Then try to push that mag into the gun with the slide forward.

If you will tap the base of the mag when you have about 8 rounds in it on a hard surface-not hard enough to break it but hard enough to settle the rounds it Will work.

Uplula is the answer. Loaded my G30 and found it no problem geting all 10 rounds in.

Here's what I do. I carry my G23 with it's HiCap mag (13 rounds) with 12 in the mag and one in the pipe. Then I keep a spare mag...a G22 HiCap mag (15 rounds) loaded with 14 as a backup. So my question is will the G21 mag work in the G30...if so then that will give you more rounds in your spare mag with it easy to put in the gun with the slide open or closed.
Works for me

You do know that Glocks come with a tool to help load the magazines? My advice, use the tool, let the mag stay that way for a day or so. It will help break them in. Just my personal opinion and experiences.

I've been waiting for someone to mention the UpLula. That is the best $25.00 I've ever spent. I've used at least 5 different types of mag loaders, and this thing is the best, easiest to use, quickest thing I've ever seen. I even bought an extra one in case I lost or broke one. It works perfect on the eight different types of mags I've used it with. Single stack, double stack, 9MM, .40, .45, doesn't matter, the thing makes range time fun.
