Authorities say they believe a man arrested Monday in connection with last week's armed robbery of a Roanoke pawn shop also robbed a Salem gun store.
Robert Lewis Johnson, 19, of Roanoke is charged with robbing the Williamson Road Pawn Shop and using a firearm in commission of a felony, police said.
He was arrested at the Roanoke Police Department about 4:45 p.m. after talking with investigators, said Capt. Chris Perkins.
The owner of the pawn shop, Steven Beheler of Roanoke, was shot during the Dec. 3 robbery, but no one has been charged in the shooting.
Beheler's wife said last week that her husband was OK. The couple couldn't be reached Tuesday.
Perkins would not say how many guns were taken during the robbery because of the ongoing investigation.
Johnson was also wanted in Salem in connection with a robbery at Trader Jerry's II, a gun shop in the 200 block of Fourth Street, said Sgt. Joe Mills with Salem police.
Mills said the shop's employees discovered a gun was missing in October while taking inventory, and reviewed surveillance tapes to get a photo of the suspect.
A clerk at a nearby pawn shop who had seen the surveillance photos recognized the suspect and helped police identify him, Mills said.
Johnson faces a grand larceny charge in connection with that robbery, Mills said.
Monday's arrest comes a week after two Maryland men were arrested in connection with the Nov. 13 robbery at a Henry County gun store.
